  1. I took accutane about three years ago because of some mild cystic acne. The only problems I ever experienced were dryness and nose bleeds. Once in a while I get a small pimple here or there but other than that I look like I never have had a problem with acne. I was really impressed by the results.
  2. It seems like grades are sometimes inflated. I wonder how so many people can get almost a 4.0. Many people work very hard for their grades, I agree but if so many applicants have such high GPA's a person might wonder if the prerequisites are difficult enough. I am in A&P and Micro right now and the majority of my class (about 20 of us in each) are spread out in the grade scale. I do agree that many nursing students study more than in some other programs but if you can't get into a program or school because you have "only" a 3.5 I think that's crazy!
  3. Ever seen the movie Office Space? I work in the operations department for one of the biggest banks. That describes my working conditions perfectly. :chuckle
  4. I need to vent about something... In my math class this semester (college Algebra) we can't use any calculators! I think that's ridiculous! Even when solving problems with pi we have to just use 3.14 and get the answer with that. Am I totally crazy for thinking that's kind of not fair? Also, it makes me mad because my professor says all this should be "easy" and will skip over explaining some things...for me nothing in math comes easy.
  5. Hi! I used to live in Tucson (originally MN then AZ now back in Northern MN). We used to live in the Catalina Foothills, very nice area, you are correct though, lots of Californians, very high prices. Foothills is also pretty much the best public school district in town (in my opinion, I also used to go there). I liked Tucson ok, too hot for me and not to mention scorpions! Good luck at TMC it's a good hospital!
  6. I appreciate everyone's input! It's nice to know that my feelings are normal and that I'm not going crazy. I am definatly still interested in working some day in the ED but only time will tell...I've been feeling like in the past few days this experience has made me stronger. I am not giving up on nursing! Thanks again to everone who replied.
  7. I am about to start nursing school this fall. I already have a good job (though not what I want to do ultimately but one that I need to keep through school) so I thought to get my feet wet in the field, volunteering would be a good option. This week I had my first day volunteering in the ER. I thought this would be a good place to see a lot of different medical issues. Plus I'm not just getting people in the waiting room coffee, in fact I'm not in the waiting room at all. I came in about 7 a.m. ready to go. I was prepared to see trauma and I was realistic at least I thought about it all. What I saw was a man who was brought in because he committed suicide by driving his car into an oncoming train. He was brought in by helicopter but was dead when he got to hospital. He was pretty messed up to say the least. I saw his body and I don't think however prepared I thought I was, I definatly wasn't ready for that. I think I handled the situation professionally and didn't lose my composure. However I feel like I'll be a bad nurse if I can't handle things like that. Will these feelings pass? Is this something I just need to get used to?
