  1. I personally do not know anything about the accelerated BSN at USA, but here is a link to a thread about it: https://allnurses.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54835 Hope this is of some use.
  2. I say join the Air Force!! But, I am biased b/c my hubby is in the Air Force :)
  3. A nursing career in the military can be very rewarding. You will gain experience in a variety of practice settings and will get to 'see the world'. Also, the pay is somewhat better than the civilian world. Other benefits are healthcare coverage, housing allowance, discounted groceries and excellent retirement benefits. If you can be commisioned as an officer, the pay and promotion opportunities are greater. An Air Force nurse sent to a duty zone such as Iraq or a hospital in one of the nearby countries is typically in the area for 4 - 6 months. It is my understanding that AF nurses are in the war zone for a much shorter time than Army nurses. Do not let the war keep you from doing something you have always wanted to do. You may never be deployed to such an area.
  4. I am not familiar with privacy laws in Canada, but I do know a little about how things work in the US. Under HIPAA, an adult patient has the right to view their medical record. Of course, there is paperwork associated to fulfill the request. Medical records are often purged and/or sent to storage if they remain 'inactive' for a certain period of time. I think it is 5 years. However, medical records for minors are treated differently. They don't get sent to storage/purged until like 5 years after the age of majority no matter if the record has been 'inactive'. I do not know how old you are or what the laws in Canada are, but I hope this has been of some use.
