NIU 2016 Nursing Admissions
I had a 3.8GPA, a 110 on the Accuplacer (I believe they only require a 75) and only one outstanding prerequisite at the time of application. However, I turned down my seat and decided to prepare for medical school instead. Good Luck!!!

NIU 2016 Nursing Admissions
The only prereq I have to complete is English 2. I am actually happy I was selected for the Spring and not Fall, as this will give me time to put some things in perspective.

Question from a doc on NP education
It needs to be a standard across the board. Online schools with flimsy clinical requirements should not be tolerated.

Another reason unions suck!
Fair? Is what you pay to ride a bus. I don't expect fairness from profit-driven corporations and seeking such is why a lot of nurses are in the position that they're in. Furthermore, I've never worked a job because I needed to, so I don't fear being replaced or handed my hat. Anyways, Good Luck to the OP.

Another reason unions suck!
You don't need a union to negotiate, bargain or to ask for what you want. He may not get it, or he just may :) either the way, you don't know until you ask.

Confronted about charting at patient's school
Why is the school assuming that you are writing about things other than nursing? Something just doesn't seem right. Were they recently sued, lol ?

Another reason unions suck!
It's your career, your life and the decisions you make should be about YOU. Nursing is a business! Hospitals, nursing homes, etc will always look out for their best interests and you should look out for yours as well. Some people will say it's unfair...but most of those people don't negotiate and will accept w/e TPTB Offers. If you want certain vacation dates negotiate with your superiors or co-workers (for example offer to work one of their weekend or holidays) You don't have to accept things as they are just because everyone else does. Almost everything can be negotiated....And closed mouths don't get fed Good luck!

African American patients - a cultural question
I don't think personality traits have anything to do with race. However, there is another common denominator.

Curious to know how home births are safer than hospital births?

Can a Criminal History Stop Me from Being a Nurse?
Why is it that when someone has a criminal conviction, but goes a long time w/o incident people like to attribute it to luck. Couldn't that also be said for those who don't have a criminal conviction...that luck has prevented them from getting caught? Just an interesting way of thinking, to say the least.

Thinking of dropping Nursing school and doing Pre-Med
Can't we say the same thing about being a PA instead? Isn't that also insulting to the PA profession?

Not getting it as nurses- the view
Im not sure what you mean. You're basically saying her "Joe" story may not be true. Fabrication is lying. However, I get that you're saying it's just hunch.

Scrubs with mis-matched colours
Oh it's great that you're allowed to choose your own color. We had to wear navy blue...no other colors were allowed. Does anyone know why nursing and CNA schools require students to wear scrubs to class?

CNA pre-admissions test?
There was no tests or interviews, of any kind to enter my program. And, this is the first time I've heard of pre-admissions test for a CNA program.

Nursing School
I too was interested in a hospital program, however there are none in Chicago. There is one Graham Hospital (and it's on probation) in down state IL. If you're willing to leave the state there are several programs in PA,NYand NJ. There is also one in Indiana and I believe Ohio has a few. City colleges of Chicago have had some issues with pass rates. Also several of their nursing programs were closed and are now under one umbrella ( one school one location). I don't know the exact details but it would be something to look into. Depaul- I don't think they offer an undergraduate degree in nursing. Ambria- Is this the school where you have to become a Lpn first, then bridge from Lpn-ADN...then another bridge from RN-BSN? If so, I don't know the cost for the RN program but if their 45k Lpn program is any indication,I would stay away. Have you considered the suburban community colleges or UIC?
