  1. A huge community problem that has to do with older adults is Home Safety. We developed a Home Safety called "Rest Assured" We reviewed hospital data on falls and found that there was an increase in older adults falling at home. The program consisted of going into the home doing an assessment of their environment, providing immediate education, providing written recommendations and then doing a follow-up assessment 4 weeks later. The program was so well received in the community that the local law enforcement agencies worked with us and provided Beacon Lights that the older adult could insert in their outside lighting fixture. If there was an immergency they click the switch twice and the light would become a beacon. Neighbors and law enforcement knew that this was a signal was assistance.
