When parents are present, they are responsible for their children. The intention of the parent to be on-site was to register the child, not to seek medical care. The ER staff either did not really say what that parent stated, or they are ignorant of what really happens at a school. You are not a primary care provider, nor are you an ER triage nurse or MD. Don't let bully parents get in your head. You gave prudent care and suggestions. The parent just felt guilty for not making their child eat prior to attending registration.

Mylan has a program now...EpiPen4schools. Look it up. We will get them for free. We have an order from a clinic MD who writes an order for us to have a standard epipen pack on-site for emergency use as needed for any person experiencing anaphylaxis.

We use old PE shirts and shorts for dress code issues. Not sure if you have uniforms for PE.

I have 2 right now. They are both young (2 grade). Both resulting from spina bifida issues. Sometimes there is some resistance from one due to pain, but I have her blow her bangs up to avoid the "bearing down" she sometimes engages in because she is scared. Once I get it in, I have her sit up some to increase output and force through the mucus. Surgical intervention may help with scar tissue.
