I am an RN with an ASN with specialty in OB. I have worked the majority of my 10 years in OB. I have recently in last three years been requested to assist with some legal cases as a nurse expert. After loosing my father to poor hospital care in magnet hospital and myself having poor care its been sort of a passion God has placed in me to help become an advocate through my experiences somewhere in a hospital, law office, or within state to advocate for better care for our pts and to speak out for all the nurses that strive for excellent care but due to the overwhelming loads is making mistakes and sentinel events more and more common. I am struggling at where to start. Do I further my education and if so what and where are the best options to tie these passions together. I love my profession and it saddens me to see the shape it is becoming and nothing being done about it. Does anyone have any ideas? I am sending out to legal offices in my area but not sure if there are other ideas that you can suggest to me. Losing a parent to the same profession that you are in and love, when should have never happened is hard to swallow each day at the bedside. It makes you question everything. The stress it has caused knowing the one life I wanted to save (my father ) I was unable to but all my assumptions were right but just never paid attention to as I was labeled "just a baby nurse". My father passed away post op from obstruction that he had every risk for, three requests for abdominal scan made and all denied because I was not what the residents/professionals felt was an adult nurse. Because of that alone, and the importance of my oath, I have made it my passion now to speak out for others when they are not heard to help put an end to this mess. nurses are a special breed and we love to care but the world is making it harder to do our jobs without shortcuts... Please let me know if anyone has any ideas that may help.

Do you know of any that have multi gestation on one form. My previous employer had one for twins so we could just use one form. Man, I wish I wouldve kept some of those papers for future use. I know i can make my own but I am just being lazy i guess. LOL

Hello L&D nurses... I am wondering if any of you have a printable labor and delivery flow sheet form that I can use to work on assisting a new nurse with her strip charting while in her clinicals. I have do not have any old paper labor flow sheets now that everything is computerized and I have my search online has turned up unsuccessful. I am hoping to get my hands on one that will allow for internal ctx charting as well so she can calculate mvus. Please help me out !!!
