  1. Lev, Yes I left messages for both HR and unit manager. I will PM you the hospital
  2. Hello, I interviewed for an RN position on a Med-Surg Unit at a local hospital. Interview went great, i shadowed a nurse a week later, and HR contacted me via email to submit my references. Problem is, I interviewed 4/16/15, and shadowed on 4/25/15. The nurse manager gave me a verbal offer, and explained HR would be in contact with me with pay and orientation schedule. I have tried calling them twice (both manager and HR), and haven't received a call back. I am confused as to why I feel I am being ignored?? They told me I would be on day shift orientation in June still, so if I did get this job offer, wouldn't you think they would be calling me so I can give my current job a decent 2 weeks notice?? We are currently short-staffed as it is where I currently am employed (LTC facility), so I definitely should give at least a 2 weeks notice. I am just starting to wonder if they are completely rejecting me, or if the process is just really extremely slow...Period, I wish they would at least contact me back if the process is this slow to inform me I still am in the running for this position... Any advice would be appreciated :/
  3. @seaofclouds I have contacted the unit manager and left her a voicemail, as well as called hr yesterday and left a voicemail since no one answered. Starting to lose hope in getting this job even though everything went very well 😕
  4. Hello, I recently interviewed for an RN position at a local hospital almost two weeks ago for a position on a med-surg unit. the interview went really well, the unit manager said a lot of my qualities are what she is looking for, and that she felt I would be a really good fit. She gave me a tour and I was able to meet some of the nurses. Interview lasted approximately 35 minutes, and before leaving she asked when I would be available to shadow. I explained due to my current achddule (I work at a ltc facility, 5/6 8 hours a week) that the following weekend would be better. She said that would be perfect and gave me the name of the nurse I would be shadowing. We discussed some information about orientation (i had to explain that I was getting married in a month and she said time off would be granted with no problems, that they would work around it). Anyways, she explained my orientation would be 6 weeks of days and 6 weeks of nights to get myself back into routine for working night shift there. she said hr would be in contact with me for references (already contacted me and all that was completed) and she said before leaving they would be jn contact with pay and my orientation schedule. Fast forward, shadowing went really well. The nurse I shadowed was wonderful, and she said the only way they wouldn't hire me was if the nurses didn't feel id be a good fit, but all went well. She said that HR called her shortly after her shadowing. Well it has been 4 days (3 business days), since my shadowing experience and I have been sitting on pins and needles because I haven't heard anything else. Sent a thank you email the day after my shadowing experience. Just nervous now, since it went really well but haven't heard anything for a while. Anyone have any similar experiences, or any advice on how much longer I should wait to call hr and get an update? Thanks!
  5. Okay, So I finally have my first RN job!! Woohoo! It took me almost 3 months to hear back from this facility, and I am working in a LTC facility. I am a Night Shift nurse, and granted since I am night shift, I am the only nurse on my unit with 50+ residents. At first I was very nervous to know that I would be by myself with that many residents (especially as a new grad), and if something were to go wrong...well, who would I turn to? Yeah, there's a nurse on call, and I know I can call her if need be, but still. Any who, I had 4 weeks of orientation; they went great. I got into the swing of things and got a routine down rather quickly. I gave myself props for that, so when they asked if I was ready to come off orientation, I said sure! I was so excited to be on my own. Well, first shift I had to write up two incident reports..granted I did not have to do any during my orientation, so I was new to filling out all the paperwork. Second night, another incident report had to be filed, along with a few change in conditions. I never had to do changes either on my orientation. So after my first four days by myself, I started to wonder...man, my orientation period was a piece of cake and I felt I wasn't fully prepared since nothing "Major" happened during my training. I thought of it as a challenge. You know, oh God's testing me...first week on my own, he wants to see what I can handle, right?! Ehhh, well tonight he really tested me. Still, first week of being on my own, tonight was the first time I had to send a resident to the hospital. I didn't know how to feel, and granted I still don't. I know it was the best thing, because she was admitted for heart problems, but still....I got to thinking, God is REALLY testing me. I have been out of school for a year, so I am still a little rusty on a few things here and there, but for all of this to happen in my first week on my own, as the only nurse on the floor with 50+ residents, is it too much?? I start to wonder. I hear how for other new nurses the first couple weeks on their own, oh it's a piece of cake for them. Me on the other hand, I feel that the first week I get thrown on my own, everything happens. Like I am afraid to even blink because I feel something else will happen. It's been a very overwhelming first week.. Has any other nurses/new grads feel that the first week on their own, a lot of incidents happened, or you feel you were really being tested?? I am just praying my nights will get a little smoother. I just don't want to feel like I am too overwhelmed or suffocating:bag:. I want to be strong enough for this, but never expected all of this to happen in my first week!
  6. Anursedad, Good luck to you! I will be thinking about you Wednesday. Sending all my positive vibes! Stay calm, breathe, and tell yourself you've got this! Good luck! ?
  7. I took the nclex twice and failed. Passed on my third try last week. I barely used much the first time I took it got 265 questions; the second time I took it I used hurst and only this, and this screwed me because I thought I was okay just using hurst (when only like 6 questions pertained to what I studied, out of 75). Third time I sat in I reviewed my hurst material, the 35 page study guide, and reviewed some comprehensive material from Maryann hogans comprehensive book (this is a big book, and it's VERY detailed so I did not review the whole thing). The book is broken down into the nclex categories, so if there's an area you are weak in on nclex, this helps. I paid I believe 45 dollars for it. I passed my third time with 75 questions. I prayed a lot, and took my time. I had a ton of SATA and priority questions so make sure you feel okay doing these type of alternative format questions.
  8. Each review is different. I say sit down and try and figure out where you stand with the material. Have you figured out which areas you may be weak in? That's what I did and went from there. You do not want to overwhelm yourself with doing a bunch of reviews (trust me!). Try to choose 1 or 2 and stick with those. Kaplan is good from the reviews I have read; I did Hurst review. It was expensive (I paid 300 for the online review, BUT it did not cover everything- no review does!) Hurst had good reviews on each section such as cardio, renal, GI, psych, etc & good question reviews. And then I used Maryann Hogan's nclex comprehensive review book to review the other material I needed to cover.
  9. Hmmm have you checked your bon's website to see if your name is on there? My state participates in quick results too, but I still wasn't able to do quick results because it said my results weren't available. BUT my name was on my bon's website with an active license number the day after I took nclex! Maybe try that? Praying for you!
  10. mg1086, I applied and am registered in Maryland. And thank you! Good luck to you!
  11. Funkyrntobe, Go to your board of nursing website. And go to "look up a licensee" or "online verification" and you should be able to type in your name. If you passed nclex, your name and license number will appear, along with it stating that it's "active"
  12. I took my nclex rn for the 3rd time on September 10th and passed! I know the feeling of not passing twice, it's devastating. You just need to stay positive and believe in yourself that you will pass! The third time I went in to sit, I made sure I took my hand off of the mouse for every question and read the question and answers carefully. For the SATA, I read each answer as a T/F question and this helped me (I was never good at SATA in nursing school). Make sure you relax the day before you take your exam. Try not to study, or if you do, review small things like lab values. I never used Kaplan, so I do not know how their questions are worded. Have faith in yourself, you've got this! :)
  13. Good pop up most likely means you passed! That's very good! Now take some time for yourself, and go out and celebrate this weekend!
  14. LVNtobe, I did not try the PVT. I didn't want to risk losing $200. But if yours is not letting you proceed to continue with submitting your payment & it's saying "our records indicate..." Then this is pretty much similar to the PVT's old pop up! So it is more than likely a good sign. Good luck!
  15. And just a reminder to anyone who views this, as of this date, you will not get the "pop up" with PVT. You have to enter your CC information beforehand, and then if it doesn't continue on with charging your account, there will be at the top of the page in red letters the whole "our records indicate..." so, its no longer a pop up, and their whole website has been switched around! Good luck to all the nursing students, new grads, and nclex takers out there!
  16. Mxnurse, does your state do quick results? If so you could do that, or you may wind up like me and before your 48hrs of waiting for the quick results, your name and license number shows up on the BON website. I will keep my fingers crossed for you! :)
  17. I used online Hurst Review, the 35 page study guide thats floating around on here, LaCharity PDA, and a TON of questions (I used the NCLEX Mastery app on my iPhone, and an app called Nclex Pro) both were decent. Try and get in the habit of SATA questions just in case. I was never good at them in nursing school, but i had a ton on Nclex. Just dont lose hope in yourself while taking it! you got this!
  18. Good luck to you! Stay strong through it and try and stay calm! definitely take your time with each question. I winded up just taking my hand off the mouse with each question, and reading everything carefully.
  19. I PASSED!!!! just got my results! i am officially a REGISTERED NURSE!! thank you, god!!!!!!
  20. I didnt have to do PVT... got my results... I PASSED!!!! words cannot describe the emotions i am feeling right now!! guess all those alternate format type questions were a good sign!
  21. Just got my results.... I PASSED!!!!!!!! I am so happy! i guess getting that many alternative format type questions was a good sign!!! woohoo!
  22. So I took Nclex-RN yesterday. I walked in calm, said a prayer and told myself I was not going to rush through it. Granted, this was my third time going in and sitting for the nclex. The two other times I took it, the first time I received the entire 265 questions, and the second time I received 75. I was not giving up hope to be a nurse, so I studied and studied. I knew yesterday was in God's hands. I told myself to stay strong. The second question I received a SATA, so I took my hand off the mouse and carefully read each answer as if I was answering them T/F. Well, I decided to tally and let me tell you I was not expecting this, but I received 30 SATA questions ?. I had other alternative format (drag and drop, a cardiac rhythm strip, an image) but 0 drug calculations. Test shut off after 75 questions. I had priority, follow up, conference, and infection control questions. Since this was my third time taking it, I felt confident leaving the testing center, since I didn't feel the questions I had this time compared to how they were the past two times. I am NOT doing the PVT. I have read that they updated the website, and now you have to enter your cc information no matter what. Besides, it killed my mood the last time. I am waiting it out for quick results or until is see my name on the BON page (hopefully I passed!) my advice to everyone taking the nclex is NEVER give up on yourself and your dreams. You got through nursing school, you can get through nclex.
  23. I took it yesterday! I had over 20 SATA, like 6 drag and drop and so on. Test went blue after 75 ? playing the waiting game because I am too nervous to do the PVT! With that many SATA, it was brutal.
  24. Just took NCLEX-RN yesterday, I kept a tally of how many SATA questions I received...I had 30! And then I also had 6 drag and drop, 1 cardiac rhythm (which was also SATA), and then 1 picture out of 75 questions. When the test shut off at 75 I was in a way relieved (since I had that many SATA), but then I was like crap if I failed I didn't have a chance to even prove myself with that many SATA!! So now I am playing the waiting game...I would do the PVT, but I am too nervous to do it and see the CC page (I took nclex before and was near passing standard & the PVT killed my mood). Hopefully I passed! Because it would be torture to get 30 SATA questions again!
