1. Hi, I need your help about Language proficiency for the CNO. I know that the CNO needs two letters one from me and another from my employer. 1- Letter from my employer: I need a sample letter which confirms and verifies my English proficiency in Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading. Would you please help me with "reference letter format "from my employer? For example how the employer can verifies that I can write, listen or read in English? Do you have any sample letter? If so, I'd really appreciate if you could share your information about the letter. 2- Letter from me (applicant): Also, do you have any sample letter to show how to request the CNO committee to review the letter of employer? Many thanks.
2. Hi seenachitresh, Yes, I also suggest that you contact CNO at first to get reliable information and ask them about "returning to India and working as an RN to meet the safe practice requirements" ... (I think email contact is more reliable than phone). If they accept then you have enough time to work and meet "the safe practice requirement" and prepare for the OSCE exam at the same time. If not, start preparing for the OSCE. On the other hand, to meet "the RN education requirement” you need to pass the OSCE; if you pass, then CNO will ask you to complete additional education "to meet the safe practice requirements”. Course content and the number of practice hours required depend on the number of years you have been out of nursing practice. I'm still not sure, but I heard that we can complete these courses in a nursing college, BUT If you cannot pass the OSCE, to meet "the RN education requirement " you need to go to York or Ryerson university and study again and it takes a long time to be registered. Your safe practice expired anyway, so try to focus on the OSCE. It maybe helpful to read this page about "Sagid" who passed the OSCE and the CRNE but because her safe practice expired CNO asked her to complete 250 hours of clinical courses: https://allnurses.com/canada-crne-cpnre/osce-crne-safe-930783.html#post7975518 At last, according to Touchstone Ins registration is now open for the following dates: June 14, 2016 and November 24, 2016. Check their website: Touchstone Institute │ IENCAP Good Luck!
3. @ seenachitresh, sorry for my late reply and please let me know if you have any question.
4. Its easier to back to my home country than the other provinces. Maybe I call CNO and ask them. Thank you for your help.:)
5. Thank you dishes, I know that York University has a BSN program for IENs , and that there is a wait list for this program. Can I return to a country where I'm registered and start working as an RN to meet the practice requirement and come back again?
6. Hi, I received a letter from CNO and my OSCE result. They said:" we have determined that you have met the RN education requirement"...However, because my safe practice expired, they explained that to meet the practice requirement, I must complete a few additional courses. In their letter there is no explanation about competency gap(s). What does it mean? Did I pass the OSCE or not? Thanks
7. Thank you for your reply, I'm reviewing CNO Standards & Guidelines and I asked this question to make sure that taking photo with patients is not perceived as a sign of crossing boundary in the therapeutic nurse-client relationship. I'm not talking about my personal values, I'm asking about policies, standards & guidelines of nursing in Ontario, Canada.
8. Hello, Is it legal that a patient (or her/his family) ask a nurse to take Photographs with her/him? Thanks
9. Hi, about 8 or 9 years ago I contracted with an agency and applied for EB3 visa. I passed NCLEX-RN and IELTS and got my Visa Screen Certificate. Due to visa retrogression it lasted a long time and unfortunately (or FOTUNATLY) the agency sent me a termination letter. They didn't send me any information about my visa process. I know that my priority date was 2007. A few months ago, I received a letter from NVC showing that "A VISA NUMBER IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE...." I want to ask while I don't have a job offer, can I obtain my EB3 visa? what should I do? I would appreciate any advice or information.
10. Hi, I am an RN looking for sponsorship. about 8 years ago I contracted with a recruiter company to immigrate and work in US. I already have RN license and Visa Screen certificate and (regarding that my Priority date was 2008) ready for visa interview. But my problem is that the recruiter company was closed in 2012 and I don't have a sponsor anymore. I appreciate any advice any information.
