  1. Definitely. All the staff are nice and helpful and create a family atmosphere that I love. I would definitely say that if your preceptor's teaching style doesn't match your learning style than definitely speak up cuz that will hold you back a bit. A couple of my preceptors were a little bit over bearing and would step in for me too often and I can't retain info like that but I'm excelling decently fast now
  2. I meant to say not instead of bit earlier lol
  3. Sure! They asked me pretty generic questions like describe a time when you had conflict with another coworker, what do you do if you see a doctor bit following the hand washing protocols, why nursing or why this unit, what drew you to apply at this hospital (I suggest memorizing the I.C.A.R.E. values and mission statement), and go prepared with a few questions to ask them and ask if you can see the unit if they don't offer a tour. I think that was mainly it though. Pretty chill. I ended up accepting a position in their ER unit
  4. You apply online. I usually searched for Seton residency or clicked on the nurses link on their site. I know for the February cohort the link to apply didn't show up until about 2 or 3 months before the cohort started though but they still had a little information about it and told you when to look for the link and sign up for open house
  5. Hey girl, I received an offer at seton for their neuro/ortho unit at $24/hr but I decided to go with st. David's residency. Sorry I cant help you out with your other questions!
  6. Okay so I tried to get in contact with the other managers but they weren't hiring anymore at seton main and my recruiter said she would forward my email to brack and see if they were still hiring earlier today but I never heard anything back so idk if they received it or not. I found out a few days ago that I got the job for neuro/ortho at Seton but being that I just found out that I got the ER job at St. David's Med Center today, I went ahead and accepted it that one! Hope you heard back from Seton and best of luck to you!
  7. Hi, I have recently been offered a job for st David's GN program for the IMC/Tele and the ER. I was wondering if you could tell me how you liked their program!
  8. I'll let you know how it goes!
  9. Alright so I called HR today and got an update on the jobs and they're all still open so I'm not sure why that recruiter told me they weren't. I almost feel like she was looking at someone else's application because I went and lookEd at all the jobs I applied to and neuro/ortho wasn't even one of them! I thought something was off! Whenever I go to my interview with them I'm gonna stop by the other units and see if I can ask the unit managers myself. Hopefully I don't shoot myself in the foot in the process lol
  10. I know girl. I feel like I was set up to try and be talked into doing Med/surg lol I have respect for those nurses and everything but med/surg isn't my thing hah but I didn't bring up OB as an interest so idk. She didn't mention it when I asked her what was available though. They scheduled my seton interview a couple of hours after my 2nd ER interview for st. David's though so I'm gonna go ahead and go to see what it's like. Still keeping my fingers crossed for the ER though!!
  11. Yeah that's what I thought would happen but the recruiter that I met at open house called me and asked what unit I was interested in and I went through a good 5 units that I would like, then she said they weren't interviewing for those anymore so I was like well what's left? And she told me all the med surg units, neuro/otho, and something else so I asked for an interview with neuro/ortho. Apparently I gave my resume to the manager for that unit but I don't remember lol
  12. Ah okay. I got called today for an interview. She asked me what my top unit choices were and I told her ER and ICU but she said they were all done accepting interviews soooo I'm definitely leaning more towards st. David's now. I was like man how are they already done??? I thought everything just got started but maybe they just didn't like my application lol idk, oh well
  13. Did you get a call for an interview??
  14. Hi, I just received a job offer for the IMC/Telemetry unit residency at SDMC and was wondering if anyone else is going to be in the January/February cohort or if anyone else who has been through this program could give some insight about it!
  15. It would've been good interview practice but I'm sure you'll be fine haha you're going after what you really want so I'm sure that'll help push you to do amazing in your Seton interview! But okay the email thing gives me some relief! I was like why would they send this 2 DAYS AFTER they give me access to apply???? Lol I emailed them earlier when I realized it happened though so maybe they'll tell me the same thing
  16. Sorry, I just realized that they sent me the link to apply for jobs on Wednesday and this new email are the instructions to apply for the jobs so now I'm freaking out because I already applied for everything I wanted on Wednesday so I didn't fill everything out the way it states in the application guidebook -_- but as far as applying for both st. david's and seton, I would just go ahead and apply for both because it can be pretty competitive trying to get a new grad position. It's not like if you get offered a position that you absolutely have to take it, you know? It can just be a back up plan for you if anything.
  17. I received an email this morning stating that I will now be considered by the managers and leaders this morning but I haven't got online and submitted everything yet. But on my original applications that I submitted after my phone interview, I just clicked on the magnifying glass and typed in the letter "b" in the "begins with" box and searched and then bcls came up
  18. Same here. My friend did his respiratory therapist clinicals at different st David's locations and said he like the main downtown austin location the best. When I was interviewing with them they said that they're going to have better staff to nurse ratios by Jan 1st I believe because they're opening a new segment of the hospital so that's good. One of my other friends is a nurse at the main location and she likes it as well. I haven't heard the best things about the north Austin location and I believe that st. David's doesn't pay as much as seton but idk how much seton pays
  19. I went on two interviews at St. David's Main in dowtown Austin and hit it off great with the staff. I recieved a informal job offer for the IMU/Tele unit and I'm waiting to hear back from the recruiter to see if I got the job at the ER. They're only accepting 2 GNs though so it's kind of a long shot but I think my interview went really well so we'll see!
  20. It went well! They did ask a few interview questions though like why do you want to work for seton, tell me about a time when you and someone else disagreed in your clinical rotation, then he read their mission statement and values and asked how would I incorporate those values through my nursing care, and why do I want to be a nurse. Thankfully I went on 2 interviews yesterday so I was pretty prepared already lol but afterwards he asks where you want to work and what units so he can forward your responses to those managers. You can still apply to all the jobs you want to though.
  21. Just had my phone interview and recieved the email to start applying for jobs!!
  22. A lot of outdoor stuff to do like kayaking, hiking, biking or whatever else as well!
  23. Yep! I grew up outside of Austin in Pflugerville, Tx. I love the city but not trying to live in the heart of it. Traffic can get pretty horrific!! Plus the closer downtown you are, the more expensive the cost of living is if you want to stay in a somewhat decent place. Super chill though and PLENTY of cool things to get into. Great place for live music if you like that kind of thing and a whole bunch of amazing food places!
  24. Yeah, I had to skip class go. I'm at ut tyler
  25. I know, me neither! Did you go to open house?
