  1. For the record, I finished the shifts I had committed to, and then went elsewhere. I did not feel bad about my decision.
  2. And then count it again, and if they don't like your answer, you'll be weighing every teeny tiny botle!!!!!
  3. Has anyone heard anything about an FDA recall on the INRATIO machine????? I cannot find anything on the web about it and I LOVE that machine but my boss told me this morning I cannot use it anymore???????
  4. Fresinius equipment is most common, and I believe, the cheapest
  5. I would contact your local network for ESRD first. I'm in network 7 here in SE Florida. And, for many available freebie advice, contact your local Epogen provider and other drug companies that market directly to clinics for renal patients. They will be a source of lots of free goodies too. Have you decided whose equipment you will use yet?(dialyzers, dialysate etc). How exciting, what city are you in?
  6. No Suzanne RN , they are not. I am close to the contractor and no changes whatsoever were made. BTW, I found your answer a bit presumptive as well as condescending.:bowingpur
  7. I RECIEVED A LETTER FROM MY AGENCY YESTERDAY THAT STATES THAT BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO REDUCE THEIR BILLING RATES THEY ARE REDUCING OUR PAYRATES AS FOLLOWS RN's -$4,00 an hour LPN's - $3.00 an hour and CNA's -$2.00 AN HOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm furious!!!!! Has anyone else experienced this? I'm in Florida.:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire
  8. Why would you consider taking a job for $22.00 an hour in an area of the country that is DESPERATE for dialysis RNs? Trained or untrained, ask for 26.00 and if you don't get it, walk away and go somewhere else. We must stop working for slave wages honey. Good luck to you.
  9. Hi PLTSGT. Generaly most of us use them for pts who for one reason or the other cannot hold their sites post tx, like paraplegics, those with handscramps, etc.
  10. My first thought is of course to ask the nephrologist. My second thought would be to first try none at all, reassess, and start low with loading dose if that first treatment presents with clotting problems. Quite often during hospitalization the patients are already recieving heparin subq which might allow you to go without. That's been my experience anyway
  11. Hi Cocoa and Jnette. I too had a wonderful charge nurse who had been at that difficult clinic for SEVEN years! They would not match the lousy 2$ pay raise that another clinic had offered her. What a shame, she was top notch, taught me alot and the patients loved her. It is so hard to accept that this company apparently cares nothing for their employees. In an industry that is training intensive you would think they would learn how stupid it is that we are so easily 'dispensible'. Dialysis is my passion as well, but, I'nm not sure I can work in an industry that values 2X2's more than dedicated staff, Kerry:angryfire
  12. Hi Bellaweez, so sorry to hear about 'road trip'. Did you happen to read the 'similar threads toward the bottom of your post. Seems you are not alone. Hope you will find work , Phoenix is nice this time of year?
  13. Thanks Delana. I have decided that there will be no legal action taken. This would only serve to hold my focus on this horrible thing. I need to move on and put it behind me. I will not be the same person after this. Will be looking out for #1 alot more closely heretofor. Again, thanks for the replies. It does help to know what others are thinking. I'm off to a fresh start!
  14. Thanks for the warm reply. Everyone who knows my work ethics is shocked by what happened . Yes I have often thought of traveling, but, my first move is going to be to have this removed from my record. There is one law they cannot get around. It is discrimination, by that I mean you are not allowed to treat one employee differently than another. I know that acutes ordered 3 1/2 hours are run 3 hours by EVERYONE in the industry. Not everyone, everytime, but they are. It is more the rule than the exception. And, that is what I was instructed by my trainer!. They simply would not open those records or ASK the other nurses what they do. And the other point they fired me for??? BECAUSE THE NURSES ON THE FLOOR WHERE WE DO DIALYSIS DON'T LIKE ME????? I know the Human Resource manager at the hospital and will be filling her in on Monday. Perhaps this is not the first time they have encountered this difficulty with this nurse? So, I will be speaking with a lawyer first, to help me expedite getting this off my record. Other than clearing my record my only hesitation with traveling at this juncture is won't 13 weeks take me al the way through Xmas? I might miss all 3 holidays with my family. I need to pull myself together and get something right away because I'm broke now. I mean, it's been 3 weeks.Agency work for awhile I guess. Thanks again.
  15. Wll I'm back. They fired me. Here are the two reasons they gave. 1. The staff of th hospital where I was assigned to do acutes by Fresinius (assigned in July by the woman who just fired me)does not want me back there? 2. They found 3 treatments that were ordered to be 3 1/2 hours long and they were 3 hours long. I told her that in training I was specifically instructed to run them 3 hours, that the order was written that way to cover the Doc with medicare and that everyne runs them 3 hours. Did not matter, they only looked at my records and of course asked me specifically who told me that. My response was I would not tell them so as not to get anyone else in trouble, but, they can simply go back and look at treatment sheets other than mine and they would see that this is industry wide, common knowledge. Albeit unspoken. That did not matter either and they began to blame human resources, said they gave them no choice. I have spoken to a couple of acute nurses and they can't believe that this happened either. They are aware of this unspoken rule. One of them, who just happens to do acute in another hospital for the same doctor said "Well, it must be an individual thing then, 'cause we do it here". Feel realy bad. Hard to get up and start over now but have to. I was hoping they would offer to put me back in the clinic they pulled me out of to do this job, but, no offer was made. I also spoke with someone on the flor of the hospital where they said "they didn't want me back", she has heard NOTHING of this sort. Anyways, neeed to get over the crying binge and hit the pavement. I wonder what it is like to apply for a job when you've been fired by your last employer, anyone got anyadvice on that one? Heart is broken. Thanks again for your input.
