  1. I applied to vanderbilt, duke, and Ohio state! Duke was my last choice because it was an ABSN program with the option of getting your msn. Vandy was my first choice because it's vanderbilt, it's nursing school is number 11 and my specialty is 5 in the country. It was an obvious choice for what I wanted. Ohio state also has a fantastic program but they no longer off the acute care specialty as "direct entry" so it wasnt an option for me anymore although they have all the other specialties. I believe it is 3 years though.
  2. Im not sure how many people apply but when I went to an open house a couple years ago before I started my application, I want to say they accept about 25 FNP students. The other numbers were 12 acute, 23 primary, 15 midwifery, 21 psych, 30 peds, and 16 women's health but I'm sure that varies year to year depending on the applicants. I'm pretty sure it standard to have about 140 in the pre specialty class though. You could probably call and ask how many they accept for each specialty if you are unable to make it to an open house. As far as the application, they definitely look at everything because I know my gpa and test scores alone left me without a chance. Spend a lot of time crafting your answers for the interview questions and really show them who you are and why you would be a great nurse. Part of the difficulty is doing that in 250 words so make it great! My personal statement was about a page and a half.
  3. I applied to both programs last year and am currently attending vanderbilt as a preslecialty student, acute care specialty. Vanderbilt was my first choice last year because I liked the way their program was set up way better than Dukes. With duke, you spend 18 months (I think) working on your bsn and then you aren't even guaranteed to get into the masters program if that's what you're wanting. At vanderbilt, you get your MSN in just 24 months and so far the program is Great! Definitely accelerated but doable and they are extremely helpful in helping you succeed! If you have any questions feel free to message me and if you can make it to an open house at Vandy they offer tons of info!
  4. I applied acute care; and very long story short, the acute care program was suspended. Luckily, I've been accepted into other programs and have accepted admission elsewhere!
  5. I don't believe it's a rolling admissions process. When I went to the open house I was told that. The nursing schools reviews the applications and then the specialty program reviews the applications. What I think is happening that some specialties are reviewing at a slower rate or that some specialties have more applicants to review. They also may be doing waves, too
  6. We looked at Bellevue and there didn't really seem to be much there. It was certainly the closest option and had some very reasonably priced locations but it seemed kind of dull (no shopping, resturants, etc)?
  7. I'm a little late to this but I was accepted pre-specialty to the adult gerontology acute care program last week! Extremely unexepectd and excited! My fiancé and I will be moving to Nashville pretty soon and I was wondering if anyone has ideas of places to live! We want to live about 15-20 minutes from downtown Nashville and somewhere that's reasonably priced but not sketchy. Any ideas?
  8. SweetINFJ I've applied AG-ACNP direct entry! I'm super nervous!
  9. Well if AGAC acceptance rates are anything like that, I would be a very happy girl! And I would think that at the very latest we would find out feb 1 but I think I read on another thread that some of them knew in December! I understand your predicament though, hopefully we know sooner than later!
  10. Awesome! I'm applying for adult-gero acute care! I'm so nervous about getting in! I wasn't able to make it to any info sessions, I'm from Virginia. What kinds of things did they talk about admissions? I'm afraid my gpa, gre scores, etc. won't be high enough. I read online that we should know their decision before February 1!!
  11. Hey everyone! I haven't seen any threads about this application cycle yet and was wondering whether anyone was applying and for what specialty? Also if anyone knew whether out of state applicants had a disadvantage?
  12. I have a 3.5 and work as a cna but I too feel like I don't have enough going for me and I'm aiming too high applying to Vanderbilt! What about you?
  13. I am also applying for adult gero acute care!! I'm really nervous! I'm taking the gre on the 17th
  14. I am also applying! I attended an open house in March and they said they it was important enough to want to do well on. They mentioned having at least a 153 or higher and a 4.5 on writing. I would say that as long as you're above 150, you'll probably be okay provided other areas of your application are strong! What specialty are you applying for?
