OIG OMG!
Hello fellow ”persons in long term recovery”! I went through some really tough times last year, got addicted, diverted but now I’m really trying to make amends and turn my life around. I’m in treatment and diversion program. Now ideally I really want to work in addiction treatment and help others struggling through this process. But I can’t find a nursing job anywhere:( because of pending felony and background check… Do you know if OIG exclusion is for an absolute certainty with a felony to obtain substance (even with withheld judgment?)? My license was technically never disciplined, I went straight into monitoring program. Do you guys know how exactly nurses get on OIG list? Who refers them? Do they get paperwork from the court, from nursing recovery program, BON, how does it work? I’m reading that if the nurse is enrolled in a nursing recovery program and the license is not suspended/revoked or on probation, then the board won’t refer to OIG. Is that correct? I already can’t pass a background check with health and welfare fingerprints because of felony , which is a 5 year disqualifying event, even with withheld judgment. OIG time out would make it so much worse:( Any advice is very appreciated! Thank you!

do schools do random drug tests?
Thank you so much for your kind words, @LPNTORN2016OH! I am going through really hard times emotionally but talking to the doctor really helped. And I really hope the medications he put me on will help. I'm going to try harder take care of myself and I pray everything will be ok. Becoming a mommy is literally the hardest job I've ever done... Thank you everyone for your support!

do schools do random drug tests?
Thank you so much guys!!! I just wanted to avoid it because I didn't want to explain anything to them but hopefully they will be satisfied with my prescription script. Yes, ppd and ppa really struck me hard... This is my first baby and I can't sleep/eat or take care of myself because I'm worried about him and crying all day long. Waking up 20 times a night to check if he's breathing, having dreams of him dieing and all this horrible stuff. I just came back from the doctor today and I cried the entire time I was there. I really needed help. I lost 7 lbs in one week only. This has been torturing me for 2 months now. Hopefully this antidepressant and anti anxiety medication works. I really want to be my normal happy self again, and enjoy my baby and nursing school. Thank you everyone for your input!

Anyone going to/went to Carrington college?
Their programs are accredited and some are only approved by Idaho board but graduates are allowed to sit for nclex after completion. That's all that matters. Their clinicals are in major hospitals, and I checked, hospitals here do hire their graduates. After nclex and getting associates degree and Rn license from them, I will continue in one of their contracted universities for Bsn. So I thought it all out, no worries. I just wanted to see if someone did that program before and could share an experience

do schools do random drug tests?
0Do nursing schools do random drug tests? My doctor prescribed me clonazepam for postpartum anxiety but I'm afraid to take it if the school (Carrington college in Boise) does random drug tests. I had to pass a drug test to get enrolled and I did, I never did any drugs so it was clean. But now I got really bad postpartum anxiety (my baby is 6 months) and I don't want to take but I clearly need it otherwise I just cry all day long. I know if I have a prescription I'm going to be fine but I don't want to explain it all and I'm very embarrassed by it. Please advise if you can, thanks in advance!

Idaho students! Advise on Carrington college please!
Hi everyone, I was wondering if somebody can help me make a decision on Carrington college in Boise Idaho. I was thinking to apply to their Lpn to Rn (AS) bridge. It's around 30 000$ but it's only 12 months, I like that it's fast. After that I can do Rn to Bsn online. Does anyone has any reviews on this college, or know someone who went there? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

National University LVN-to-BSN 2015 cohort 7
Yea, honeymcbadger, that would've been nice :-) But what can you do, life came in the way when no one expected :-) I wish you all the best, I'm sure you'll become a great RN. Have a nice vacation! By the way, I watched a documentary on honey badgers some time ago, they are amazingly smart, tough and stubborn little things :-)

National University LVN-to-BSN 2015 cohort 7
Hey, SammiN, that's awesome! I'm happy for you! Maybe you can test out of Pediatrics? Just get a book and take their final test + ATI exam? Anyway, wish you luck as well, soon it will be over! :-)

National University LVN-to-BSN 2015 cohort 7
SammiN, I don't understand why national doesn't want to help you. Since you already paid and took the program, you should be in front of the other cohort applicants. That's not fair. They will never find a place for you like that, you've just lost your time and money! You should contact a lawyer, have him write them a letter, maybe that will scare them?

National University LVN-to-BSN 2015 cohort 7
Oh, that's horrible, SammiN! Can you just pay for those two classes and join generic BSN cohort? Or National is not willing to do that?
