  1. r I admire your eager attitude but, would highly recommend you get med/surg and icu/ccu experience first. While doing that there are also so many ways of getting the skills you will need, such as a Trauma Nurse Certification and the advise about EMS time is excellent. The Trauma Nurse Cert. I took years ago offered clinical time on ambulance services and air ambulances also a burn unit rotation and a fantastic pediatric rotation , along with alot of the skills used in ems that we as nurses are not exposed to anywhere but in the ER. On the positive if er/trauma nursing is your bag you will find all of this effort to be FUN. I have been in ER for 8 years and can't imagine being any other kind of nurse. (Except flight nursing, my next goal) I may be just a little prejudiced but I think ER NURSES ARE THE BEST !!!!!!! [This message has been edited by sherryleetns (edited February 21, 2001).]
  2. My heart goes out to you, and I am so angery with the system that has made a patients rights a "permission slip" to treat healthcare workers any way they choose. My concerns also are with the hospital systems that allow this kind of assault to take place without taking a stand and protecting their most valuable assets. From a legal standpoint if the prosecuter is not willing to investigate maybe your only recourse is a cival suit against the prosecuter, the pt. and maybe even the facility you work for. I am probally the least "suit" oriented person on earth, but your health and well being were put in danger by this obviously wreckless adolesant. We as nurses deserve better, and you as a human should not have to give up your rights just because you choose nursing as your profession. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. ------------------
  3. You go Tim, Professional or not sometimes you got to call 'em like you see 'em. I think as nurses we have the right o stand up for our selves, therefor standing up for the care we give. And as for this nurses personal problems LEAVE THEM AT HOME, if b**** nurse is taking her/his problems out on you think of the poor pt./family who gets this little joy for a full 12 hours. I know that is a nurse I would want caring for me or one of mine. Siren keep your head up and let B**** nurse see just how little her actions affect you.
