Derrick86, we're you able to join the FB group? Also, how did your friend say the program is? Did he/she give you any suggestions or study tips for the first semester?

Yes feel free to add the group itself. I only posted the link because some people said that they couldn't find the group on FB. We are also able to search for you via email that's why I said you can send a private message. As for the tablet, I have an iPad but I've found that the Kindle is less expensive and are on sale at Best Buy and Amazon.

Hello All, I saw this in another school's thread and thought I'd ask but any idea on whether we have to take the Hesi as an EXIT exam? I saw that some schools require the Hesi to prepare for the NCLEX. I'm sure we will find out more at orientation though. I was also told by a former student that ACC requires a dosage exam after each semester and if you do not pass after the 3rd attempt you are kicked out of the program.

If I'm not mistaken it took about 4 weeks no longer than 6 weeks. So hopefully you should be receiving it before orientation if not sooner! :)

Every school has a foundation of some sort that offer various scholarships. @derrick86 @ethiorn I can PM you all information needed to go through the program that I went through. Even if you don't qualify for financial aid alot of the scholarships can be added on to another to get the same effect. But when I say they are easy to get, I mean I applied one week and got a call that I was the recipient the next. I also did not have to write an essay or what not but alot of the larger scholarships require you to do one, but its still a small essay for a huge reward so I personally think that they are worth it! I will send you the information I have but also look into the local ones including any that Alvin have one their website and through the financial aid office.

I know that with Phi Theta they offer a waiver of the $95 for some students, it's a drawing done at the initial application/info meeting. I also have a friend who put on her application to HBU that she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa & she received an automatic $5000 scholarship so definitely look into there scholarship opportunities. I'm sure at orientation we will find out more about similar organizations at Alvin CC.

Best of luck with you in terms of successfully getting your FA to transfer!! I did not qualify for any aid simply because I have a degree already but there are several other options to get assistance. I have received a full scholarship that covers tuition, books & supplies so those are easy to get and requires little work too!! Please check on Alvin's website for scholarship opportunities & for any nursing organizations or honors programs such as Phi Theta Kappa etc. If I can help in any way please do not hesitate to send a private message to obtain the scholarship info that I used.

Oh thats awesome! I wish I have some medical background/experience. Are you currently at Alvin working on your EMT? So if we need to advice we can come to you right?? lol

To elaborate on @derrick's post, RNSG 1108 is scheduled for Mini 1 (8 Week) on either Tues or Thurs from 1130a-120 p; RNSG 1215 is scheduled for Mini 3 (4 week) on M-T-W-TH from 8 a-12p; RNSG 1215 (16 Week) on Wed at 8 am; RNSG 1260 -Clinicals on Monday (16 week & times varies); RNSG 1513 (16 week) Tue/Thur from 830-10 am or 1130-220 pm. @Derrick86, will you be working also or going to school fulltime? & have you completed all pre-reqs or plan to incorporate that into the program?

Aww that was so sweet of you! I couldn't imagine getting through the program without the help of others so no thanks needed. I noticed a few people in the other forum were thinking to apply for the LVN program & others were going to reapply for the ADN program. Either way I think having options is always a good thing. Please do not limit yourself & do not let this little roadblock hender you. Until they give you a denial letter, there is always still HOPE! @ethiorn, I just took the immunization sheet/checklist to my physician and they suggested that I run titers. The blood work is to measure whether or not you are immune to the disease. My physician said that most people who grew up and went to school in the US has had most of these done as young kids but I did not have proof of it since my parents home caught on fire when we were younger. You can obtain records of this at your middle/high school but what are the odds. So I think this may be what you are referring to (TITERS) and this is also sufficient for the program. I have since had my TB and Flu Vaccine done.
