WGU Prelicensure-Cedars Sinai-Oct, 2014
Hi...I've been lurking! I'll be your counterpart down in OC come Oct. Huh...I wonder why clogs are unacceptable. When I was interning, last yr, that's all any of the female nurses wore. I hate touching laces to untie them after being on the floor for 12+ hours. Oh well.

Congrats, nestea3!! Nice to "meet" you! Where are you living? I'm a childbirth educator and lactation consultant, but mostly I'm a homeschooling SAHM to a 6-yr-old (entering 1st-grade), a 4-yr-old, and a 1-yr-old. I know me, and the way I need to study...I'll be looking for some in-person meet-ups, for sure. Otherwise, most of my study-time will be between the hours of 12-3am. Glad you got into the OC group!

Thanks! I'm excited. I'm especially excited I was selected for Orange County, as I live in Huntington Beach, so the clinicals will be close to me. From what I understand, I have to pass the "pre-nursing" portion of the program before I am officially admitted into the true Nursing Program (BSN). Clinicals are set to begin approx 9-mos from the start (I've been told), so maybe around May 2015? I don't think I get a choice of hospital, but there are three clinical sites that they are deciding between: Fountain Valley, Los Alamitos, or Lakewood. I'll take any of those over having to drive into LA or Pasadena any day!

WGU BSN Program Grads Question
ShondaJ, the RN-BSN or MSN programs are structured differently than the pre-licensure program. Those that already have an RN and are just flushing out their degrees have more flexibility than those of us who are trying to get licensed for the first time. WGU has to make sure we meet the requirements to sit for the NCLEX.

Thanks! It sounds like you have some good chatter among your Cedars group...all quiet down here in OC, so far. Best wishes for a strong start to your program!

After seeing the posts about acceptance for the LA cohort at Cedars Sinai, I called my enrollment advisor, and she gave me the fantastic news of my acceptance! Is anyone else going to be in the upcoming pre-licensure BSN program in the OC, starting this Oct 2014? I'd love some study-buddies!

WGU RN to MSN if the ultimate goal is a PhD in nursing research?
Not specific to PhD, but I'm starting the pre-licensure BSN with WGU in Oct. This will be my second Bachelor's degree. My concern was moving on to an MSN at a different institution. I'd recommend what was recommended to me: contact the schools you think you might be interested in pursuing your PhD with now, and ask them about their acceptance policy/ history with WGU. My school of choice has already worked with and accepted WGU graduates (the "Pass" from WGU equates to a B-average, so a 3.0). That was my concern, it was alleviated, so I'm moving forward with their program.
