Hi guys. Could we all put our collective heads together and help for moment. I have mentored the greatest young woman I have ever met through nursing school and we are at the entrance exam stage now. Ya'll would love her as much as I do, if you knew her. She is single mom of two young boys, working full time, buying her own home, and has little to no support from the boy's father. He core grades are good, but not quite a 3.5. She has graduated, but is retaking A&P 1 to get her grades up. The problem is with her TEAS. She failed the first one. I have given her every book I have and every flash card that I ever made. She is taking the exam again this September. She wants to get into GPC, of course, I want her to go Athens Tech, or get into the BSN program next Fall. She is thinking about the LPN program for flexibility. Does anyone know what it takes to get into GPC or any other nursing program in the area? Any tips on the TEAS Any tips on the PSB exam I welcome any information any of you guys have on any tests or programs. All knowledge is power. Thanks.

Honey, are you still out there? I am a nursing student and I just joined this site. Your posts caught my attention regarding GPC and I followed your posts. I don't see any posts after this one and I am wondering if you gave up. I truly hope not. I think that you sound like you have a caring and kind heart. You just need someone to guide and support you. Over the course of the past few years, I have mentored and tutored many students. How can I help you?

I just finished reading this entire thread and it made me laugh. I hope you guys are still checking your threads. I am so looking forward to meeting everyone. I'm in too. Don't tell me who you are, let me just try to guess on the first day of class :)

Perhaps some of those professors should have gone? May I share with you my experience with Wesleyan College? I applied to five schools and got in to all five. I chose Wesleyan because of the small size, the professors backgrounds, and the technology. I received the full Presidential scholarship, and the Career Women's Network Scholarship on top of the pell grant and a plethora of loan options. I was a little hesitant to accept the offer as they have provisional status depending on the passing ratio of the 2015 cohort. However, I loved Wesleyan and was so proud of my achievement. On the day of the orientation, I was late because I couldn't find the amphitheater. I also did not have my photograph. A faculty member was kind enough to escort me to the amphitheater. How about, Professor Kochera refused to shake my hand. From that point on, the email became insulting and curt. In one email, she questioned my committment to nursing because I was late with my picture and orientation and had to have a faculty member escort me to the amphitheater. My email to her was long and equally abrasive. A meeting was scheduled by Ms. Sirena Fritz, the program director. Ms. Fritz, also from Macon State was wonderful and I really enjoyed meeting her. During that meeting I couldn't answer any question asked of me for Doctor Kochera's ranting and flailing of arms. At one point, she got so angry that she stormed out of the room and Ms. Fritz had to bring her back in. The ranting started again. After about on hour of this, I thanked them both for the opportunity and informed them that I had chosen another offer. When I went to shake Dr. Kochera's hand once again she folded her arms across her chest and scowled like a three year old child. I swear to God, I couldn't make this up if I tried. Get this, Doctor Kochera would have been my advisor. Now what chance do you think I would have had. Three weeks after I left, I get an email from Ms. Fritz expressing a concern over the lack of attention I am giving to my to do list. I was stunned, I asked how she could not know that I wasn't coming back. I couldn't have been any clearer. I had a friend who also was accepted into their program and turned it down. But she turned it down before orientation. Before I made my mind up, I was able to speak with a current student who shared with me that two other students had issues with this same professor and they don't want to come back, but they have no other choice. One is even considering changing her major. To me, this would have been like a very bad marriage. You know, it came too easy. I only made an 80 on the HESI. That should have told me something. I am very content with where I am now. My school has a 100% NCLEX passing ratio and I did survey with about 50 physicians in the area and they all recommended this program. Giving the experience I had with Wesleyan, I surveyed former graduates about the program and the professors and some grunts, but overall, the professors got rave reviews and the student support centers are awsome. The key point here is just make the grade. Pass those exams so that you get to choose rather than settle for whats left on the table. Now a word about Wesleyan. It is a wonderful school with a stellar reputation and I believe in Sirena Fritz and what she is trying to build. I just think its going to take some work on the infrastructure.
