  1. Hi Paul B and WC Case Manager I have done a lot of research but it seems like its never enough unless I can really talk to a person who have experienced doing case management. I do not know any nurse from my circle who have done case management except here in the website. Is it possible that you can give me a call so I can really talk to you guys about it? I really dont want to let an opportunity go but I also want to make the right decision. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  2. Thank you Paul B! Advocating for injured workers will definitely be my priority. I just need to find the perfect balance. I know it will be hard at first but as long as I know I am there to make the patient's lives better, things will fall into place. :)
  3. Totally make sense! Now, I really have a better understanding of Case Management for IW.:)
  4. Thank you WC Case manager!
  5. Grn Tea and MBARNBSN thank you for all your inputs. I was not scared about the patient, I was more concerned of the environment. But both your inputs have opened my eyes and gave me more confidence. I don't want to be defensive but I really do care for people from all walks of life, from old to poor, name it. This will just be my first time trying the field nursing and as such I am really doing my best to know more about it before I get my feet wet and get discouraged. I am really looking for more encouragement and at the same time a real picture of field case management. I had an interview today for case management for workers comp and was told that I will be on the field most of the time meeting clients for their doctors appointments and not so much of home visits.
  6. Really? This is promising for me. I think I will like this position. Now, it will just be a matter of company. i have an interview for Genex this Monday. I read a lot of bad reviews from glassdoor.
  7. Oh woow!!!! That would have frightened me. I guess I will just have to bring a Tazer just in case and for my sense of safety. Thank you GrnTea for your help!
  8. Is going to the IW's home safe? Has there been any harassments experienced? I just need to know before I jump in to this kind of work.
  9. Hi All, I am new to this website. All threads I have read have been really helpful. I hope you guys can help me too. I got burnt out from my last job as Assisted Living Director. I am an RN and felt like they were using my RN title to attract customers but really what I have done was trying to staff up the company and it seemed endless. My main job was staffing, dealt with call-offs and vacation requests. If a person calls off, the company did not want to pay overtime or double time so I ended up working as a coverage. I was paid through salary so I was really working double shifts in a day without pay. Or 6o hours a week. So I quit that job and have no regrets at all. Currently, I am looking for a job that can offer me good work-life balance. I saw Case Management positions for workers comp. Do you think I can have a balanced life if I chooses this path? It seemed like in Nursing, bosses are really gonna utilize each Nurse unless we tell them no but if they cannot utilize us, they will get rid of us and look for someone they can. Please correct me if I am wrong but this is based on my experiences as a nurse for 8 years. My path in nursing has really been pathetic. There seemed to be no life at all if we work full time. I hope I can put an end to this and start being happy as a Nurse through case Management. Please help!
