This is exacly what came to my mind on Wednesday 3rd August 2005 at the US consular office when i went for my VISA interview, and i was refused VISA, along side 44 other nurses at the US consulate, without being interviewed or our docuiments srceened.The letter handed overt to everyone of us explaining the refusal were already pre-prepared befopre our appearance. I am one of the 45 nurses who won schoolarship to study for 12 months at a University in Califonia USA. Immediately after we were turned down we contacted the school and a representative of the school promised to be here in Lagos Nigeria any moment before 10th of this month to sort things out. Although we later gathered from a reliable source that our refusal was due to an order from the Federal Government here to stop Health care professionals especially nurses from travelling abroad. But my question is, choosing a place to live study or work in any part of the world, is it not solely an individual decision? Please, someone should tell me if the Government has right to stop Nurses from travelling abroad to study or work, or is it a crime to be a nurse?
