  1. DaniO'Regan--- Congrats on finishing your WHNP! I just graduated from Nursing school in May and am entering this NTP program through the OB route. I hope to eventually get my WHNP :)
  2. Welcome Harmony! I, too, will be heading to Tampa for NTP and then orders to SAMMC! Congrats :)
  3. akracht--- Would you mind shooting me an e-mail? ([email protected]) I wanted to ask you a few questions related to your OB spot at Langley!
  4. Welcome to the thread, Alicia! I am from Maine and will be doing NTP in Tampa and then San Antonio for my first duty station!
  5. akracht--- Congrats! Langley was my first choice!! I have heard amazing things about their OB unit. Best of luck and see you in January! bb5698-- I have not decided what I want to do for my commissioning ceremony yet!
  6. Good to see another OB selectee! See you at COT, laddy :)
  7. Owen--- I grew up in Waterville. Worked this summer as a camp nurse. Will be working per diem until January in the Augusta area. bb569 & kc0823 & Kelsie: Where are you guys from? Do you have any information about NTP at Tampa. I know we will be traveling to Tampa General from base (MacDill AFB). Will any of you be bringing a car? I am planning on flying from Maine-->AL for COT and then buying a car once in Tampa. I will be heading to San Antonio after Tampa. ..my name is Sylvia by the way!
  8. Owen-- Are you working as a nurse anywhere in Maine until COT?
  9. See you all at COT in January! kc0823--- I am also doing NTP in Tampa! Are you Med-Surg or OB?
  10. Anyone doing NTP in Tampa?? Or first duty station in San Antonio? Also....who were the Jan 19 COT people?
  11. Camo-angel: My package was not nearly as impressive as johnro's.... -3.9 GPA, Graduated in May, passed my boards in June. -Brand new nurse and college graduate, only 22 years old. Have worked as a CNA throughout nursing school. -Spent my final semester of nursing school on a high risk OB/ L&D unit (I applied OB) -Letter of rec from OB nurses and a retired OB AF Nurse I do believe some of my stronger points of my application were my letters of recommendation and I think I interviewed really well with the Chief Nurse.
  12. Congrats to those selected! I was an OB select. COT Jan 19---> NTP in Tampa --> first duty assignment is San Antonio!!! Way to go MAINE!!!
  13. Any day now! Patience patience patience! (Easier said, I know...) 35 Medsurg and 5 OB!! Hoping for one of those 5 OB spots considering I've passed up 2 Labor & Delivery job offers since graduating in May. Good luck to all candidates :)
  14. jerryp--- Great news! I am assuming that since FY '15 begins October 1st, the budget should be close to being figured out at this point? (I know I shouldn't assume). It seems that they might want to have everything finalized within a month of when the deadline is....fingers crossed we hear something by September 1st.
  15. The FY '15 begins in October....I am assuming that the numbers will be figured out before the FY even starts. I don't think we will be waiting until October!
  16. ssenak-- You would go to COT in January 2015 because you have not graduated and taken your boards yet. For those of us who have graduated and have passed NCELX, we were told we would leave in October (which makes this delay SUPER stressful)!!
  17. littlemissfit--- I agree...this wait is torture. I am assuming we will know within the next couple of weeks! I was also planning on leaving in October, so fingers crossed the selections are released before September!
  18. MadeInMaine--You are right, the selections have already been made, just not released. We are just waiting for the proposed numbers to be signed off by the higher-ups. stack-- I am currently working as a summer camp nurse. I recently turned down a Labor & Delivery position while waiting to hear back about NTP. ssenak-- I did find NCLEX pretty challenging. I had a lot of questions on material that I would have never thought to study!! (not trying to scare you). However, I took the Hurst review, and studied for 2 weeks straight before taking my boards. I passed after 75 questions. You can do it!!! I am glad that you have enjoyed your time in the Air Force. I am hoping so badly to be selected...as for now we will all just have to do as the Military says, "hurry up and wait"!
  19. I signed for 3 years ssenak--Good to see another OB applicant, thought I was alone for a bit. I believe there was a total of about 15-20 OB applications. Have you heard any number such as this? Also--you have a stunning resume it sounds like! I just graduated in May with my BSN, and only have a 5-month preceptorship on a Labor & Delivery Unit for experience. I LOVE OB, and would like to receive my WHNP in the future. Wish I could put as much on my resume as you! I'm sure the scrub tech & prior military experience will be very helpful for your selection! Do you know of any other OB applicants?
  20. Am I the ONLY one applying OB this year or what!? I can't seem to find anyone else! I am praying this wait is worth it for me considering I turned down a full-time Labor & Delivery position yesterday. I've chased this dream too long and hard to stop now, but what timing :/ Also, did you guys choose the 3, 4, or 6 year commitment?
  21. It's an interesting job. I work with girls ages 8-15! A lot of motherly nursing, that's for sure. I'm sure Camo-angel can relate!! Unfortunately, I began working at the end of June when my package was already sent in so I was not able to put this experience on my resume
  22. My recruiter said there are no cancellations--just delays. They need to "iron out how many spots they can afford to select this FY". With that said...the presumed numbers of 35 MS and 5 OB may be lower.... littlemissfit---I too, have no back-up plan in place because no hospitals would hire me knowing I had the potential to leave in October. I am currently working as a camp nurse this summer, but camp ends August 15th.
  23. Wasn't me! Are you applying MS or OB? Also....this whole cancelled indefinitely thing makes no sense... Why would they wait until THE DAY selections are supposed to be released to decide that they are cancelling? They wouldn't have sat through boards the past 2 weeks looking through applications and not notify anyone until today. Just doesn't make sense to me
  24. This is the WORST. My B/P and HR can't handle waiting any longer!! MadeInMaine-- I interviewed the same day as littlemissfit. I am from Waterville, you?
  25. littlemissfit-- Oh my goodness, small world!! He texted me last night saying we should know by the end of today...who knows though :/ Good luck to you and everyone else who applied MedSurg...I applied OB.
