  1. yeah, it looks like I dont have any foundation. I just started reading and trying to memorize strips and how they look like.
  2. Hello! I’m starting a new job in a trauma unit and my biggest problem right now is reading ekg strips. I dont have any exposure to this and I’m trying to learn the basics. The director told me they cluster the pt’s that recquire ekg and they usually put nurses there after a year working in the unit but you never know there might be a call out and they just throw me in to the wolves. I did my acls already and I’m reading the Dubin book but im still totally confused. I can read heart rates and probably like 3 rhythm but the rest to be honest i dont know what to do. Any study guides, links or anything that I can study on? Thanks!
  3. youre not jeopardizing your license but youre ruining your chance to get hired somewhere else. No matter how bad the situation is, give atleast 2 weeks notice before resigning. I’m assuming youre not going back to the same facility but also remember, nursing is a small world. You’ll never know who knows who and who you get bumped into the future. Best of luck!
  4. yeah my choice is the hospital experience but im afraid after 1-2 years life happens and I dont have a chance to join.
  5. Hi! I'm currently a RN of 3 years in an out patient dialysis center. Currently no hospital experience. It's always my dream to join the military. It got serious 2 years ago and it is all that I'm thinking every day. I have my 4 year Bachelor's degree in Nursing which I took out the U.S. Got it transcribed and shows that it's accredited in the US standards. They don't do GPA scores so I checked the equivalent score of my grades by some online calculator. GPA came out 2.41. I know its low but what can I do, I was young, wasn't a dreamer before and all I wanted before was just to pass and get over college. I applied first for the airforce. Two ways to get in according to the recruiter. First to have an hospital experience. Second, to apply for the Nurse transition program and to have a GPA of 3.5. Recruiter told me to apply for a hospital position and try to apply in the USAF after one year. I tried reaching out for the army today and he said they accept anybody without experience but need to have atleast a GPA of 3.0. Last choice, Navy but I don't want to try it anymore at this point I'm discouraged. I think it's time for me to close the doors in joining the military.
  6. Hi, I currently an BSN-RN and just went to the local army recruiters office. The recruiter is telling me to take the asvab test first and we'll go from there. I thought I can join the army as an officer and work as an RN. Any insights? thanks!
  7. If that's the case, I'm no longer in the position to choose. As long as I work as a RN and use what I studied hard for the last couple of years is good enough for me. Thank you!
  8. I'm just wondering why can't jump right into hospital setting?
  9. okay thanks, the nclex rn exam takes a long time to process for a foreign graduate like me.
  10. I graduated last April 2014 and just passed the nclex rn exam last july
  11. Hello! I graduated a 4 year BSN course in the Philippines and passed the Nursing Licensure Exam (RN) here. I went to the US and applied for the NCLEX-RN and thankfully passed the exam. Now I'm officially a Registered Nurse in the state of NJ. I don't have any work experience and haven't done any trainings yet(ACLS-BCLS). I tried looking online on hospitals near my area and al I'm seeing are 2-3 years clinical experience and bls-als certificate required. I don't know what to do now. Are there hospitals that offer programs that accepts newly grads that they'll be the one to train you and if your performance is good eventually will hire you? Thanks!
