Stony Brook FNP Interview
The FNP program is 3 years, part time, hybrid (mostly online) you go through summers as well. I believe all of the programs are like this. We are in the first semester of the one we were accepted to, it started May 31 2016 and we graduate May 2019 at the end of the spring semester. Summer sessions you take a 3 credit class, fall/spring are 5-8 credits. There is a little flexibility if you need to move some classes around. And yes, for anyone who didn't get in, keep trying! I interviewed the first year I applied and did not get in, I was accepted the 2nd time. [emoji4] Hope this info helps!

Stony Brook FNP Class of 2019
Hi Rodel, One can be a copy (and also make a copy of the entire packet for yourself). I also used NSO. I've used them in the past for RN malpractice. I did not compare rates or anything to other insurers. I spoke to Lisa in student services and it CAN be brought on orientation day. I brought mine in this week to ensure mine was complete and avoid the chaos of everyone turning it in at once (apparently she's still waiting on a lot of them). She said if for any reason it's missing anything, it'll just hold you up with registering for classes so you won't be able to do it the day of orientation. Excited to see you all!!

I'm on the SOLAR now. Under 'Student Admission' it should say 'view applicant information' and 'admission decision response' after you click applicant info it will show your application(s) and you can click 'view status of supporting documents for this application' -hope that helps [emoji4]

You can log into Solar to check the transcripts. I think it's under applicant information.

NSLIJ & RN hiring; please help!!
I don't think you would be flagged. And I definitely wouldn't disclose that information to anyone ever again! You only need to disclose misdemeanor or felonies that you were convicted of or plead guilty to. As long as you have none you're fine. It's more likely that you haven't heard because the job market here is VERY competitive! I'm proud to say that I just recently received a job offer from them :-) I'll be starting soon! I graduated with my Associates May 2014, BSN March 2015 and I've probably submitted over 100 applications to the NSLIJ system alone over the past 2 years (no exaggeration) not to mention every other hospital on Long Island, most in the city and some upstate. A recruiter reached out to me via email about 2 months ago and things finally started falling into place! [emoji120]ðŸ½. Don't give up, try not to get discouraged! Where are you currently working? What type of experience do you have? Do some research on how to improve your resume & online application. Most of these places use filtering systems so you're application might not even be seen. Good luck to you!

Has everyone completed their admissions paperwork/checklist and dropped it off? I'm planning to hand mine in next week. I just finished my physical and still waiting for my malpractice policy.

Yes I had to do the application all over again (I used the same essay that I just tweaked a little) resend transcripts and get letters of recommendation again. One thing I didn't know the first time I applied is that you don't need official transcripts until after you're accepted so the unofficial copies you attach to your application are fine.

Stony Brook FNP Interview
Hey RNsince2010, sorry to hear that but definitely try again! Last year I applied and interviewed for the Summer 2015 FNP program but I was also rejected. This year I applied to Adult & Family, I was accepted to Family and just found out I was put on a waiting list for Adult. The interviewers remembered me from last year so I definitely think they take that into consideration! Good luck to you!

What age did you complete your BSN or ASN?
CNA 16 LPN 18 ADN 24 BSN 25 (I'm 26 now starting MSN FNP this year) MSN FNP 29 (projected) Then DNP I beat myself up a bit for stalling/procrastinating between LPN and RN. I took prereqs part time and took a few semesters off. Looking back I'm def proud of my accomplishments!

Stony Brook FNP Interview
Thanks guys. Decision letters are sent by email @Alikatz and the interviews are pretty straightforward @Sari Its a group usually up to 4 candidates and 2 faculty. They'll ask questions like why you want to be a NP why you chose Stony Brook what your goal is after graduation strengths weaknesses accomplishments etc. The atmosphere is pretty laid-back they're definitely not trying to trick you with any of the questions, more like getting to know you. And they take turns so that each person has a chance to answer first middle and last. For my ANP interview I was the only person scheduled at the session time I selected so it was a solo interview. FNP was a group of 3 both times (I interviewed last year also but wasn't accepted) Hope this helps, good luck!
