@NuguyNurse2b Yeah, I'm definitely seeing now that even ADN programs are competitive and wherever they end up accepting me, I will go. I just have to keep my fingers crossed that it's a decent one that will actually prepare me for the field.

Thanks for the input, everyone! After speaking with an advisor (and taking a breather to think clearly and not in desperate mode), taking both courses together wouldn't be smart and, of course, not possible. I have found a reputable, high-NCLEX-pass-rate school that doesn't require those two pre-reqs (and I have taken all of the others they require!) to at least obtain an ADN, so I think that may be my only option at this point. Fingers crossed that I get accepted!

I looked to see if I could do that and no luck. Chemistry is only offered as a full 16 week course. BUMMER! I'm going to head to advisement tomorrow and see what they can tell me. If I can't, I suppose I'll have to deal with the fact that I won't be going to nursing school for another two years.

I've really considered my community college's ADN program, however, I've been here for nearly three years! I'm so close to being done with my pre requisites that I figured going another two years for my ADN would be pointless if I can spend the same amount of time getting my BSN. I probably have to face the music and just do an ADN. I really wish I had known about the ADN program at my school sooner. I literally had no idea it existed until last year. :/ Ah well.

I'm freaking out about my grades as well, though my situation is slightly different. I have B's in Anatomy and Bio but I still need to take Microbio, Physiology, and Chemistry. My GPA for my Pre-reqs are 2.8! By the end of this semester I should have a 3.0. I know some schools only look at your most recent grades, and not the past marks. Others, however, like the school I'm DYING to get into look at ALL of your grades cumulatively, which sucks for me. I'm going to apply to all of the nursing schools in my area and pick the best one. :/

So I'm in a bind. I wanted to apply for Nursing school this upcoming spring, however, my physiology and microbiology are going to have to be completed during the Summer of 2016 because I need College Alg to take Chemistry and I need Chemistry to take Micro and Phys. Has your school ever let you take two courses (that need to be completed separately) concurrently? If I could take College Algebra and Chemistry in the same semester, I'll be good to go and can apply in the Spring.

A move would be interesting but difficult with a little one and spouse with ESRD. Thank you for your thoughts! Maybe one of my local schools will "see something" and accept me. I'm certainly hitting these last few semesters hard for the best chances. :)

Hi all! I'm closing in on my student career with TCC, I have a few pre requisites to complete and then I plan on applying for nursing college! However, I'm not very confident in my chances of being accepted, well, anywhere. My GPA is barely going to reach a 3.0 by the end of this fall, given I earn all A's. These past three years have been extremely rough, financially and emotionally (and I am by no means someone who loves to give excuses for anything), so I have had some bad marks and have needed to retake classes to get academic forgiveness. I will also be completing my last pre requisites in the spring and summer of 2016. Does this mean I will have to wait until the Fall of 2017 to go to nursing school? I see where application deadlines are normally in the spring, so my last two sciences won't be completed at that time. Do they let you apply while still completing a few courses? If I earn all A's from here on out, I'm assuming my GPA will be over 3.0, but I know in reality, nursing prospects are going in with HIGH GPAs. Also, will they take your letter explaining why your academic career was rough into consideration? I know I'm capable of a 4.0 if not a GPA in the high 3's, but due to some circumstances, I fell short. However, becoming a nurse is a serious, serious DREAM and passion of mine. I want to do this so badly but I feel a bit hopeless. Has anyone ever gotten accepted with a gpa in the low 3's? Thanks!!

Following! I plan on applying then, as well, but my GPA is horrid (okay, not horrid, but not great at all), I'll barely have a 3.0 by the end of this fall semester and hopefully it will be much higher by the end of the Summer 2016 semester. I haven't completed all of my sciences yet except for A&P which I got a B in. Maybe if I complete the remaining sciences with A's or B's I'll at least be a contender?! Haha. And then Other courses I've had to retake so I'm not sure if Langston honors academic forgiveness or not.
