  1. I start my first job in a LTC facility on Monday. I am a new nurse graduate. I was wondering is the orientation just a week for most facilities. I will orient between three units for five days, then I will be on a med cart by myself. Is this the normal amount of time facilities give new graduates? Any feedback will be appreciated.

Well, I just passed my state board and I am officially an LPN. I got my first offer in a unit that takes care of severely mentally retarded children. All of the children have G tubes. About four have traches. I want to know is there any nurse that can give me advice about this job. I must admit I was freaked out when I first saw the residents. Is it just first job jitters? Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks
  3. In my state, LPN can take doctor's orders in LTC. However, in the hospital an LPN is not supposed to take verbal or written orders.
