Let's just stop this thread. It's starting to get monotonous. Thank you everyone.

I do work on a hospital unit. I have a very close relationship to my manager, my CNS, physicians, my RN coworkers. I am involved and understand alot of aspects of the day to day runnings of the hospital. As I said my experience is unique. So this would not be an issue for me, but I am over WGU and have already moved on

So, if they are following their policy to the letter than anytime anyone takes time off from work, I.E. a vacation, then technically they are not working as an RN and should be disqualified from the program. I know that this is extreme, but do you see where I am coming from?

This is insane!!! I'm glad that I am not going to this school. So that means that there is some legal reason for their policy. I wish that I had access to research them and put them on front street for their practices. Some things aren't meant to just settle and roll with. Best of luck to you

FYI obviously my experience (of which you know nothing about) has been added to a part of research that the CNO of WGU is gathering to look into so as to in the near future maybe adding those of us out there with the same experiences will be able to attend WGU. So, I might actually have been a part of policy change. So my energy may have really mattered for others. That is really what it was all about, not just me throwing a temper tantrum.

You don't know what kind of experience I have.OBVIOUSLY you have never worked in a nursing home. I have already moved on AND BEEN ACCEPTED into 3 other schools. You are taking my original post way farther than it needed to go.

I am not going to pursue WGU. Just wanted others to learn about my experiences. I have a guaranteed job once I finish my BSN in a Magnet designated hospital. As for working in acute care, it is what I want to do. I have plenty of experiences that I have drawn from in the last 20 years to know that working in a hospital is the right fit for me.

I was just voicing my opinion on my experience, but have already moved on. I was just posting so that others would learn from my WGU experience. Some are just taking my post down a whole other road.

They are a Magnet hospital, therefore they only hire BSN. Unlike most magnet hospitals who will hire ADN as long as you are enrolled in BSN program, this hospital's CNO (Chief Nursing Officer) wants BSN completed first. Hence why I wanted to go to WGU so that I could complete a BSN a little faster( about a year) instead of most BSN programs that are an avg of 15-18 months.

Did you have to move? If so Kudos to you!!! I'm sorry that you think that voicing my opinion is silly. I am the type of person that gets what I want because I speak up and fight for what I WANT, so no I will not just DEAL WITH IT and settle for the mundane

I am far from being on a high horse. It's called "knowing what you want and fighting to get it" not just SETTLING like most people do. I have a wide range of experience in all aspects of the nursing experience. I have worked in nursing homes and have seen what RNs do and know that is not for me. Money is not the reason that I became an RN. I have a good income so I can be a bit more selective in where I choose to get my experience, so don't judge my decision making process.

Actually WGN is the only school that has this policy. I was just wanting this school because it can be completed in a shorter amount of time, and would cost me less, because I have a guaranteed job as soon as I get my BSN. They are hiring BSN in acute care hospitals where I live. I have been in the Healthcare industry long enough to know that I don't need an RN job bad enough as to work in a SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility). Acute care is where I want to work and that is where I will be. I was just trying to be fiscally responsible and not trying to have student loans out the ying yang, but such is life.

I am not saying that they OWE ME THIS, I am just saying that I have a special set of skills and experiences that would/ could be very useful in this program, but if they are unwilling to step outside of their box and actually speak with me, they might think differently.
