  1. Hello, Nursing student here! I was recently on a psych floor and as I was talking with a patient, I realized that I knew this patient's sister. I wanted to reach out and tell him that, but I didn't because I thought that would be breaking HIPAA. His sister saw that I was doing a psych rotation on FB and said that if I run into him, I should let him know that I'm a friend, because he feels like everyone is out to get him there. I would remind him that everything he tells me is confidential. I would never share his phi with his sister. I remember being a patient at one point and one of the nurses told me that she knew my father. I remember it being comforting. I just want to know if this is breaking any rules?
  2. Danielle Nicole Hosie is my Facebook name! Couldn't find the page when I searched. Add me! :)
  3. I am also finishing up Hep A shots, tb test, and flu shot. Just got CPR certified and I thought that class was actually fun. Has anyone purchased the supply list, not including books? I'm wondering how much the nursing bag supplies plus scrubs and lab coat cost.
  4. Is anyone completely done with immunizations yet? That's all that's left on the to do list before classes start! Can't wait!
  5. Looks like we're getting HIPAA certified at SLU. We finally got an email clarifying everything. My Certified Background is at 50%. Getting closer to orientation!
  6. How are you getting HIPAA Certified?
  7. That's perfect. Thank you. I haven't really decided yet on the books, but I am thinking about just buying them from the bookstore. Who knows... Maybe they are cheaper on Amazon. That's how I bought books in undergrad.
  8. Awesome! I have another question. When you got your vaccinations, what did you have your doctor sign? I know we have to upload the document to certified background, but I am not sure what document to upload.
  9. I am doing mine on Market Street at a place called Enjoy CPR. Not scheduled till August 5. They have a website where you can register and even buy a keychain! The class costs $78. Pretty expensive, but other places cost even more. I finally got certified background working. They forgot to add a paper in my packet. :) did my background check today. Fingerprints and mug shot. Haha. I'm trying to get everything done before classes start, but I think a few immunizations will have to wait.
  10. I am having so much trouble using certified background. I feel like my packet is missing something. I emailed the counselor. All i have is my certified background ID. Was it supposed to come with something else?
  11. AccelCNL2b16, I actually live in St. Louis. If you have trouble finding a job through the university, message me and I will recommend a few places. So cool you are already registered for classes. I just emailed someone to find out why I haven't been registered yet. Is anyone on here CPR certified yet?
  12. I cannot wait to finish getting my finances taken care of! I'm pretty excited to get started as well and fairly nervous! Are you registered for any classes yet?
  13. I was just accepted into SLU's AGMSN starting August 25, 2014. Nervous and terrified that I may possibly not be smart enough, but I'm ready to give it my all. I don't even have a specialty that I'm completely interested in yet. I just graduated with a psychology degree from slu, but I really want to also have a nursing degree. I would love if someone could describe how intense the courses really are. I have a weekend job, but they advise people not to work during the program!! It sounds like a good experience though. And slu is a great university.
