CSULA 2015 ABSN Program
@lgripe and Current Students, I have a few questions about what made you choose this program: Did you apply to other CSUs in SoCal? What sets this program apart from other similar programs (aside from the direct entry option)? Did you know you wanted to go into the direct entry MSN program from the beginning of the program? Are any of your classmates choosing to wait and work a few years before going back to get an MSN? Does CSULA have any support for students in finding jobs after graduating? Where do you hope to work after graduating? @lgripe - I wanted to PM you specifically about your decision, but wasn't able to. What made you choose to go to LA over LB? I know both of their programs have changed a bit in the past few years and LB doesn't have the ELMSN anymore. However, I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons between the two. With the Trimester program at LB and the switch to semester at LA, I would finish both at the same time anyway. I'm a little torn at the moment. Now that this is really happening, it's hard to make a decision! Thank you!

Accelerated BSN programs in LA?
Thanks for your help. I have also heard that CSULA is really good, but not too much about the other schools besides from them. I'm trying to get more details from others such as people who have worked with graduates from these schools. I'm also only really looking at these specific programs at the moment as I am either in the process of interviewing with them, have been accepted, or am waiting to be accepted. I checked out Mount Saint Mary's website and I don't think I would be able to apply because the fall deadline just passed and it seems to have very specific requirements. One example is a Religious Studies course requirement, which I can't take at my local community college. In addition, the NCLEX passing rates are lower than the CSUs' I mentioned. It is also only 3 semesters long which is maybe too accelerated. It might not be the program for me.

Accelerated BSN programs in LA?
I was wondering if anyone can help shed some light on the pros and cons of some Cal State University ABSN programs in the area. It seems like for the most part they are similar in cost, NCLEX passing rates, and time it would take to finish the program. So I am mainly interested in the reputations of the following programs in terms of job outlook in the area, the readiness and quality of nurses that graduate from there, or general impressions. Anything would help with my decision. Thanks! CSU Los Angeles: Accelerated BSN w/option of direct entry to MSN, Summer 2015 CSU Northridge: Accelerated BSN, Fall 2015 CSU Fullerton: Accelerated BSN, Fall 2015 CSU Long Beach: Trimester/Semester Basic BSN (also accepts second Bachelor students), Fall 2015

I got an acceptance email as well - that was quick! Still waiting on a couple of other programs to make a decision, but I really enjoyed visiting the campus. So, we'll see.

CSULB Fall 2015 Applicants-Basic BSN
I got an invitation email to interview as well. Just came on here to get an idea of what the communication exercise will be like. It sounds like a group interview? My total score is 9.615: Science GPA - 4.0 - 4 points General prereq GPA - 3.71 - 1.855 points TEAS Math adjusted individual score - 96.7 - 1.934 points TEAS Overall adjusted individual score - 91.3 - 1.826 points I already have a bachelor's degree in Psychology. If I get in, I'm hoping to win the lottery for the Trimester program just to speed things along. Thanks for all the info.

CSULA 2015 ABSN Program
I have a non-science class in progress and got an interview, so I don't think it makes much difference. It was one of the first questions asked of me just to double check I would be done in time.

I was not selected as well.

MEPN 2015
Hi elefant3, for the short answer questions, are you referring to the three questions under "other demographic information." I though they were important initially, but looking back at it, it says that data "will not be used during the admission process." I think those questions are optional/voluntary (although I will be including something). They are only considering the personal history and goal statements, right?

MEPN 2015
I'm applying to the Pediatric NP specialty - anyone else? I have a Psychology B.A. and have been working at a school for the past few years. Excited to continue to work with children in some capacity. Just took the GRE for the second time and am happier about my quantitative and verbal scores. I haven't received my analytical writing score yet though. It seems most people are struggling with the written portions of the application, myself included. There is potential for a lot of overlap in the short answer questions. Are people using all 2700 characters? Or, do you think it's okay to have them a bit shorter to avoid redundancy?
