Here's one you probably haven't heard about. Grossmont health occupations center in santee. They do require CNA and completion of a healthcare essentials course. Unlike southwestern and city, with this one you will have no problem getting into their CNA course and its a whole lot cheaper. One you finish those to things you are ready for the entrance exam. The exam is pretty basic. The ones that score highest AND turn in all necessary paperwork will get in. I put the big and in there because many dont turn in the paperwork which leaves the ones who do and pass the test to get in. there is NO waitlist and the tution is equal to that of southwestrn and city except your books and tools(stethoscope, penlight, scissor, hemostat) are included with your tution versus paying them seperate in the colleges. I highly recommend this school because they gave me all the education to pass the NCLEX and then some. The teachers are awsome!! Hmmm... That's interesting. When my son was hospitalized a few weeks ago a LVN gave Morphine and acyclovir through his IV. Then again, it was at Balboa Naval hospital, maybe that was why. The bases are goverment property so I guess they go by federal laws. Maybe they trained her. Nikki

Hi guys, I just started LVN school. I'm curious about what you learn in IV certification class. Is this the way we learn to administer IV Meds? I'm thinking that the reason they say that LVN can't give IV meds is that its not actually part of the program.But we do have the option of getting the training and certified, am I right? Someone please clear this up for me. I know I can ask my teacher, but I'm kinda impatient LOL....Nikki

I have heard alot of bad things about Maric. I did go talk to them but quickly realized they are not worth the money. I have spoke to alot of people who went there and can't get a job. Their credits are not accepted at any of the colleges here. About the only place that will accept it is University of Phenix online. My advice is to get your CNA at one of the adult schools here. Some of these schools in So. county are Chula Vista Adult, National City adult, and Grossmont Health Occupations center in Santee (also Adult school). Then get on all the waitlists, as well as, asking Grossmont when there next DET exam is for their LVN program. Good Luck,Nikki

This is an addition to my first post. I wanted to add to it. All of you LPN's or LVN's, what do you recommend? If you had it to do all over again, would you be a RN instead? ~Nikki

Maybe you guys have already answered this, but I am new to the board and my recent search on here didn't find it. At the college here they have CNA, LVN and RN. I am not sure sure which I should choose, LVN or RN. Is LPN the same as LVN. I tried looking up LVN at monster.com's salary calculator all I can find is LPN. ~Nikki
