Why does Seattle pay so low?
It's always based on cost of living in the area. Seattle's pay is way more compared to where I live now (Florida). Here in FL is a joke. Nurses with years of experience may only get $23-$25/hr starting. New grads get $18/hr depending on where you work. Be thankful. Seattle pay is enough for the area.

UWF BSN 2015
That's crazy. =( I was going to ask the same thing, to see if we could know what number we were. What are you going to do now? Did you hear back from the other schools you applied to? I'm gonna take this "alternate" thing and assume the worst for me... that I'm not gonna get in this year no matter what. Lol >_

UWF BSN 2015
Unfortunately, I was selected as an alternate too Mary_Adams Did it say what number you were or anything?

UWF BSN 2015
Anyone have updates on the number of applicants this cycle? I'm pretty sure they should have a solid number since apps were already due.... Should we call and ask? Lol

UWF BSN 2015
For those of you who applied to more than one school/program, do you guys mind sharing which schools are your first choice.. or the order of your preferred choice?

UWF BSN 2015
Did you two also do volunteer or work hours in a clinical setting? I talked to the nursing advisor today and she told me the volunteer hours was just a very small portion of extra points in the selection process. I also got an email today saying they received my application! Good luck guys!! I'm more than sure you guys got in!

UWF BSN 2015
I've asked before, and the nursing advisor said they typically receive between 125-150 applicants. Last year's cohorts had an average of 3.48 GPA and TEAS was about 85. Mary_adams, what were your statistics applying?

UWF BSN 2015
I haven't gotten one either. Oh well. Maybe they weren't going to notify us? I'm not sure. That's just something I read on the box in the Nursing office where you drop off the application. I'll let you guys know if I get anything too!

UWF BSN 2015
Yup, I got those emails too. I think that's just in general for being admitted to UWF. I heard we will find out this week (March 4, maybe?) whether or not they received our BSN application.

UWF BSN 2015
I submitted my application yesterday (Friday, 2/27)! There seems to be a lot of applications already. It drives me crazy how we have to wait until May to find out! Is anyone else here ONLY applying to UWF? I'm a military spouse, so UWF is my only option for a straight BSN program in the area, unless I do an ADN first and then do an RN-BSN track. That's my next option if I don't get in. 😂

UWF BSN 2015
@emsurf, what is your GPA? Mine is on the lower side too, much lower side. it's not considered competitive. But I got an 88% on the TEAS, and I did 2 out of the 4 recommended classes and one volunteer experience. I hope it's enough. I guess I just have to wait. Are you applying to other schools too?

UWF BSN 2015
I don't know what you're worrying about because your statistics are really good! 3.68 GPA is still a really good GPA because they said 3.4 GPA and above is what is considered competitive. What were your TEAS score? Is UWF your first choice? I heard they score heavily on overall GPA, prereq GPA, and TEAS. The optional stuff comes in after all that plays into factor.

UWF BSN 2015
I just saw this post! I'm applying as well. What are your guys' stats, cumulative GPA, prereq GPA, and TEAS? Did you guys take all of the recommended courses? Do you have volunteer/work experience?
