  1. It's amazing the curve balls I've been dealing with. I'm now back in Augusta! I wish I had finished the application process. My A&P is too old by one year so I'll have to redo it before I can get in. I do wish you the best of luck. Please don't hesitate to post what the experience is like once in and whatever can help me when I apply again.
  2. Nursing is often a thankless job. It's definitely not the job that you choose for the rewards. Some areas of nursing are better than others but that's also based on the nurse's personality. The great thing about nursing is that there are so many areas-traditional and non-traditional- to choose from that finding your niche could solve most nurse's problems. There was something I loved about every area of nursing at some point before I moved on. I found out that I prefer Rehab nursing more than any other because it's the most cohesive to me when factoring in other disciplines (PT, OT, Psych, Med). I work in Mental Health now in a residential rehab program that's the mental side of rehab. I love this part too. I've found that I was most happiest when I worked with a really great team of people and most miserable when I worked with trouble makers. You can't always choose who you work with though but having clear cut job duties means on those not so great days, I can come in do my assignment and go home.
  3. I work on a residential treatment program that is in a hospital. It's apart of the Mental Health area so we don't wear scrubs unless we want to. I wear street clothes and scrubs equally about half the time. The only caveat is that we can't wear heels. Because we're in a hospital, we have to be prepared to pulled to help elsewhere if needed.
  4. OMG, thank you! I am an LPN already so that's great news! You've just made my week NurseMika2b (and you will be :)).
  5. Does anyone know the expiration date for sciences at Darton? Most schools are 5 years but there are a few that are 7 and 10. Can't get anyone on the phone at Darton that can answer that question.
  6. Congrats to you both. Life has thrown me a curve ball. I will be moving to Memphis next month so no Darton College for me after all.
  7. I'll be applying for Sandersville next year. I've decided that I don't want to drive to Albany alone should I get in. So you've heard nothing about acceptance yo Sandersville?
  8. Is Swainsboro a one day a week program?
  9. That's great! Well welcome to the medical profession! It will be worth it in the end. Do you live in the Swainsboro area?
  10. I love distance learning. I'm assuming you're a LPN already, so I'd like to know if it's better for you starting at the beginning?
  11. I went to Tech also but that was almost 20 years ago! :). The way Darton is going, if you don't get into bridge you should probably take traditional. I just don't want to waste anymore time. I'm ready to do this. Have you considered Aiken Tech since you live in the area?
  12. So are you closer to AL or Sandersville. Is that school distance learning?
  13. I'm applying for the hybrid as well since I missed Fall deadline for the bridge. Right now, I'm not doing anything so 5 semesters of something is better than waiting for next fall. Albany is too far to drive for their bridge. I wish I knew of others that were applying for the bridge so we could carpool. Hybrid it is. Have either of you taken your TEAS?
  14. I didn't meet the deadline for fall because I haven't taken the TEAS. Fall bridge would be the most convenient for me. It's only an hour away and much shorter.
