  2. Hey All! I just got the news today (2 weeks after my exam because I live in California) I passed!!!!!!! Yay!!!!
  3. Hi calivianya First, congratulations on the job you have, the job you're deciding on, and the prospect of one at home. I know you will make the right decision about what is best to do, and I hope in some way that this can help. My friend had a similar problem, she had excepted a job as a new grad to a small hospital on a ward she was okay with, but then a day after received a call from her dream job, at her dream hospital. She took her dream job, and called the other place to resign. Another friend, was working in a position for 2 months when she got a call, interview, and job offer at her dream job. The only problem was it was 100 miles away. New city, new friends, new housing situation. She accepted the offer and rents a small studio out for when she works, then goes home on her days off to be with her hubby. (She let them know through an email.) So, I guess you have a decision to make. Is this your dream job (the one you currently accepted)? By taking this position did you agree to terms of employment (like a year of working)? If you already agreed or signed something, maybe ask hr what would happen if you break it. I would only do that after you know you have a job waiting at home. If you get a position at home, and take it, the most professional way is to write a letter of resignation, and deliver it personally. Good luck. The decision you make will be the right one, I have every confidence that you will chose what is best for you.
  4. All the posts seem to be saying that the response you got (and I got) is the new good pop up. Congrats you passed!
  5. Good luck to you both! Do those Kaplan tests they really help! Keep reminding yourself, "I will succeed." If you don't think your ready, then reschedule, there is no shame in advocating for yourself. I'll keep you both in my prayers!
  6. Sweet! That's awesome! Hopefully I did pass! I will let you know the official results! Thanks everyone: hhisrn RNyourBusiness dlwoodjr
  7. I agree with the above posts, that encouraging words in the right moment are perfect. It fuels us as students to burn the midnight oil, and motivates us to continue the journey. Case Scenarios are so wonderful at helping to connect dots. Also, tips and tricks for remembering things are great for us (like acronyms and visual aids). I had a professor ask what we felt like we needed help with, and at the time I struggled with understanding assessments, my professor took me aside the next clinical and walked me through it. Since then I haven't been afraid to ask for help when I need it (for anything else I feel weak in) and I feel 1,000 times better at assessments. I had a nursing instructor who wrote us an encouraging email each week, a few days before clinical, reminding us to take care of ourselves by encouraging us through a holistic mental picture of the success she knew we could achieve. She also would talk us through visualizations before tests, and taught us how to do healing-touch on our own necks and heads when we were stressed out. Another instructor wasn't afraid to talk to us. She asked us pointedly how we were doing and let us know that we could talk to her. That semester was really rough for me, so I took her up on the offer. She used therapeutic communication to help our clinical group get through some really tough stuff. A friend of mine said that her instructor gave them funny socks at the end of the semester saying, "When you become a nurse, remember a little humor goes a long way, but I like to take it with me with each step." No matter what you will do great as an instructor! The fact that you are asking for how to encourage your students proves that. Good luck and keep up the great work!
  8. Do you know if it means I passed?
  9. I took my NCLEX yesterday and I keep getting this pop-up with the Pearson Vue Trick: "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time." What does that mean? Do I need to wait longer? I checked yesterday and today. Does taking the exam on a Friday delay the results? Thanks!
