What is considered "Nursing Shoes"
I was recently admitted to a nursing program that requires us to wear "nursing shoes". I'm not sure what the criteria are for "nursing shoes" but I generally see the shoes to look like this: Generic Nursing Clogs I was wondering if there are any alternative I can wear that is still considered "nursing shoes". Would something like this be considered "nursing shoes": Nursemates Men Shoes

BMCC FALL 2019

(NYC) Extremely lost. Need help/advice..
Hello everyone, it's been a tough couple months. I am extremely lost in my life right now... I want to find a nursing program but I do not know where to go. I was previously in a CUNY nursing program before but I due to unfortunate events; I was not able to continue. Since I am barred from most CUNY programs, I tried to apply to NYU but was unsuccessful there. Here are my stats: My previously schools grades were: 2.278GPA My General Pre-reqs for Nursing: 3.74GPA Psych1: A- Dev. Psych: A AP1: B AP2: A Chem: A- Stat: A- Micro: A Nutrition: A I'm not sure where to go from here. I know my cumulative will not meet the criteria for many of the other schools. I tried to apply to NYU since it did not state a cumulative in their eligibility but was rejected. I do not know where I can do to increases my probability for the next application wave. I was thinking of volunteering or possibly working in the healthcare field for more experience but I am not sure if that is what it'll take to push my profile forward. I am lost. I will take any advice. I know some people will ask. With those grades and with you failing out of nursing. Is this what you really want to do? -- Yes it is. What happened in your first attempt? -- Personally from my viewpoint, I was wrongfully punished at the end of the semester in which I was threatened with a 0 on my final. Which meant I'd be kicked out of the program + barred from CUNY. When that wave passed; they never did anything and I had to take my final with the pressure of receiving a 0 on it. I missed passing my semester by 0.1. I actually failed out due to Psych Nursing, my program makes us take Psych + Medsurg, I was doing fine in Medsurg but my Prof. for psych was atrocious. Even so, it is still my responsibility to flex to the professor so I will take this L. Why is your cumulative so low? -- Young, dumb, no direction. etc. Trying to right the wrongs now. Do you have any professional experience in the health field? -- No, other than my clinical and volunteer experiences. I was thinking about finding a job and volunteering again to try and see if it'll increase my chances but I am unsure if it will even help. Not sure what to do..

NYU ABSN Spring 2019
I appreciate those who gave some insight. My Undergrad GPA is long gone. There is nothing I can do to increase my cumulative GPA. I messed up and I have 120+ Credits sinkhole with it. Restarted my academic career and worked my butt off. In terms of experience. I have had clinical experience directly involved in Nursing and here is my personal essay: Born as a first generation Asian-American; my family struggled with many of the typical immigrant hurdles that came with knowing limited amount of English. There was immense pressure from my family for me to end up on some successful path. I passively just told my parents that I was interested in becoming a doctor to put them at ease while I went to school and worked nearly full-time hours. My college career suffered immensely while I was attempting to juggle work and school at the same time. My goal was to continue creating this illusion that I was on the correct path that would appease my parents but at the same time being able to balance work and help provide for our family. I knew it was a mistake to continue this path and at the same time, I was not focused on my education. Although my academic career suffered; years of working provided me valuable experiences like being able to multi-task, tackling difficult or unpredictable scenarios, working well with your co-workers, and most of all, provided me with insight. Working gave me the insight to realize what I really enjoy doing the most - which is to help people. I had realized over the years of working in various industries; the most impactful way I can help someone is if I can aid them in their health. The most valuable thing in life above anything you can own is the ability to control your health. I thought the very core of achieving near altruistic help is if you are able to help heal someone. Then it dawned upon me that I wanted to become a nurse. I am not interested in becoming any other health professional because no other profession provides more intimate, compassionate, and altruistic help than a nurse. I went on a journey to correct my standings, got rejected from many schools, found a school that would give me a chance, worked extremely hard and got accepted into LaGuardia's extremely vigorous nursing program. I got up to half way through the program and due to unfortunate events; I was not able to continue the program. My best friend, currently a NYU dental student, was helping me recover and suggested I consider NYU Nursing. I asked him about how he felt about NYU. What he told me shocked me to my very core. The faculty to student ratio, the massive amount of resources, the incredible up-to-date technology, and amazing fair policies for students. I was in complete awe. I have my eyes set on becoming a nurse and I will find a way. I want NYU to be my vessel into reaching my dreams.

For those that got accepted. Would it be possible to post your stats? Like GPA, work experience, etc. If it's not too much trouble... I didn't make it and I want to see if I should try again. They keep telling me "hollistically" but idk to what extent or if I'm even good enough. Just want to see what the new cohorts had so I can gauge better. Any help/advise would be appreciated. My stats are: BA in Sociology: (2.278GPA) Pre-Reqs (3.85GPA): A&P1: B+ A&P2: A Chemistry: A- Dev Psych: A Microbio: A Statistic: A Nutrition: A I was previously a Nursing student at Lagcc but was not able to make it due to unfortunate events. My experiences has taken me up to Medsurg. I was highly recommended by my professor as well as the Head of all of health sciences for the school. What can I do now? How can I improve?

Laguardia Nursing- Fall 18 Candidacy ? Whats your GPA & Teas score
They don't care how high or low your TEAs are. As long as you met the requirements. However; they weigh 2x amount of weight on the CORE first classes like ENG 1, PSY 1, etc. If you do not have As in those classes; your chances are greatly reduced depending on how competitive the incoming students are.

What to do now? (NYC)
Hello everyone, Thank you for your time for reading my post. I was just wondering for those of you who live within the NYC region. I did not receive a "pass" for my psych nursing course and thus failing me out of my nursing program at Laguardia Community College. I still have to take my Medsurg exam which I fail to see the point but I will do my best. I am not sure of what to do; I desperately wish to become a RN. I am not sure where else I can go within the CUNY system due to schools and their repeaters policy. Private schools may be picky of their selections as well. I am lost. I am low on funds and time. What will be the best/fastest/sure-est way I can re-establish myself into another route? Thank you very much, Miewn

I'll take tough questions, I realized, my program is basically a big 2 year test prep for the NCLEX and will not hold your hand if you are not able to understand in a timely manner. Thank you very much for your reply!

Nclex questions and advice.
Hello, I recently just failed my first semester of Nursing School [Fundamentals]. I missed it by a point to pass for my overall grade. I do have one more chance to continue and pray that I can pass everything from here on out. I was just wondering if people have any extra sources they have used to help them study for Fundamentals? I was looking more towards books or online programs that renders Nclex style questions. Or, some questions that are geared toward fundamentals. I was also wondering if people have any pointers on how to choose the BEST or MOST answer. For instance, I did not realize this until the END of my course that. ABCs were really critical in choosing the best answer. Is there any other small little tips here and there that can help you choose the best answer?
