  1. Another funny one... when doing clinicals on peds floor in nursing school, we were going through paperwork filled out by a patient's mother. In response to a question about any complications the child had immediately after birth, she wrote "Just a little John Dish". We all had a good laugh when we finally realized she meant jaundice
  2. When I worked in a LTC facility, we had a resident who would yell down the hall for his "Colonial Penn"... took me a few weeks before I realized that he was referring to his his Klonopin! The funniest part is that he would correct you if you didn't pronounce it "his" way. :)
  3. Thanks, that's very helpful. At this point, an online program is really the only one I can really fit into my life so I suppose I'll just continue as planned and deal with any issues when I come to them :)
  4. I just interviewed for an LPN position with St. Mary's Health Systems in Grand Rapids. During the interview, while discussing educational goals, the hiring manager informed me that St. Mary's doesn't typically hire RNs with an Excelsior degree. Have any Excelsior grads encountered problems with getting hired? I'm currently located in Michigan but possibly relocating to North Carolina in the future. Is there a way to get clinical hours to supplement an Excelsior degree? I knew this would be a potential problem but hearing it first hand from a major hospital has me worried. I just enrolled at Excelsior, and trust me when I say I did a ton of research. .. but did I make a huge mistake?
  5. Hi everyone! I've been researching these boards for a while now but just finally created an account with All Nurses. I applied to Excelsior's LPN to RN program about a week ago and now I'm just waiting for my transcript review so I can get started! I'm feeling very motivated right now, I can't wait! As far as prereqs, I think I'll need micro, sociology, and math- hopefully that's it. If anybody is just starting with the EC process, I would love a study buddy. I'm located in Michigan but I'm fine with Skype/ long distance. How long does the transcript review typically take after the college receives the transcripts? Thanks!
