Agreed! I have never been one to look for that sort of thing. I am more of an introvert and my initial instinct to meeting someone has always been to be positive or nice. You are right, I dont know or have any idea, but this is why I am just saying this is what I have heard and wondered why it was so prevelant. I guess there are always two sides, just like in any workplace.

I will never understand the games and the politics and the harsh people in nursing and this really irks me everytime I read about it. How is it that people go into health care, a field where CARE is a priority and the mantra for the job, and are rude, playing games, bullies, etc. Why do so many nurses make such an effort to make other peoples' lives hell? It bothers the heck out of me. I am starting nursing school in January because I love the thought of helping others and anything to do with health care and medical things since I was young, but on the side of being excited have had to almost prep myself to deal with these awful people. It really bugs me that this is such an expected thing. Every workplace has its people, but you would think nurses, or most, might be on the brighter side. I cant even count the number of nurses that were rude while my dad and my father in law were in the hospital and it left my mind boggled.

Question about the online bundle. Can I not access them before school starts since they are online? Or do I still need to go and get something from the bookstore itself?

I Know! I just paid about 450 for the ebooks and one other book for semester 1 ..then I looked at semester 2...and thers so much more! I am going to look into other places to buy the books for semester 2 that arent the ebooks (those seem to be cheapest anywhere) to see what I can do!

Hi Julles, Did you just get your books from bookstore? Or are there other places, other than amazon that might have them cheaper? This may have been answered earlier, so if so I apologize. I saw some on amazon that werent that much cheaper and I dont think they would have the downloadable versions. Thanks!

Great I did the CPR last weekend. Thank you for the wonderful info! I will look into buying books now and I think I will go with the online bundle.

Oh no.. do you have to do both CPR and First Aid? I did my CPR and I just noticed it also says standard first aid...but the only other thing they have with Continuing Education is a CPR AND First Aid course for a whole weekend, the one happening before everything is due being cancelled.

All I have left is my mask fit! The only frustrating thing for me is one of my Certificates that I need printed from elearn will not allow me to enter my name and the date on it is from 2011. Seems more like a computer glitch than anything. How did your OSCE go? What is involved? Also in terms of books - should I purchase before school starts or will there be enough to go around if I go in within the first couple days? Also what did you do during orientation?

Where can you get the online versions? Is that also through the bookstore website? Also, if we have a Keep Open day on the first day of class, how do we know where to go to get info on the clinicals, labs etc?

LOL agreed! I chose block B... but yeah I assume its just because there isn't a set day or time for lab yet. Hopefully Julles responds like you said. I am at work as well but keep me posted if you find out and I will do the same. Great that you were exempt! Hopefully see you around in January!

Did you choose Block A or Block B? I work sunday mornings right now so I hope to god its not actually that day. Do you know who we could contact to ask? Anyway I chose block B so if you did as well then looks like we are in the same classes! I currently also have class Mon from 830-1130 and 230-430 and then Tues 130-330 and 430-630 and wed to fri are open. Oh and online communication course.

By the way I just registered for classes today and it says something about Practicum on Sunday morning...I assume its just there for now because its not yet placed on my "Keepopen" section on my timetable?

Sorry I pressed submit before I could type more. Can you elaborate on what you mean by you dont know what you are supposed to know? In that case you can only really do the reading and come to class. Or do you mean you dont know what to read even? Also my job on the weekend is very flexible and saturdays I am usually done work by 12-1230. But I Appreciate you being up front about it! I just have a house and bills to pay and have no choice. So I will need to make it work somehow. Great to hear about the one day off though! I choose my classes/get my timetable on Wednesday :) How do you like labs? How are the instructors?

I do! In terms of clinicals, do they give you specifics in terms of colours to wear, types of shoes etc? Did your clinicals already start? Where is yours and what have you been doing? Hi Philvane, I got my acceptance in September and they will send you a notification letting you know you have to go in to do a communications assessment so they can figure out which communications course to put you in. You pick a date and time for that and then they will end up sending you a package later in the fall. Eventually before placements you need to have done all your pre-placement stuff, including HCP CPR course, vaccines, mask fit etc. I am looking into booking certain things now. I am SO excited to start and meet all of you in January! Alicia

Hi all, I have decided after three years in the HR industry to switch careers and pursue my passion to become a nurse! I applied to both Mohawk and Sheridan Davis Campus for the January 2015 intake. I am currently doing a chemistry course online through ILC (only took Bio in high school years ago) and am due to write the HOAE in July. Can anyone provide insight on the differences between the two programs or their experiences in each? This is obviously thinking ahead and hoping I do in fact get in! Any insight is greatly appreciated.
