  1. Thanks hwesterly! I'd PM you if I could (mine's disabled because of lack of quality posts? new rule?). I'm surprised they only hired 8, that's such a small number! How many did they interview in total? And what units are available?
  2. They're sending out interview emails now. I filled out my background check and immediately got an email back regarding an interview! My friend also got an email about an interview.
  3. I was selected as an alternate in early March.
  4. 2016 Summer III here. Congrats to those on getting in! And for the alternates, I was selected as an alternate so keep your hopes up! As for the alternate process, I'm not sure how they select from the list either. I don't think there's a huge, comprehensive ranked list. But I believe they really do take everything into account (resume, specialty interests, personality) and have separate ranked list for each specialty (e.g. for STICU - 1. Andrea; 2. Jennifer; 3. Jack). I've talked with previous Summer IIIs before me, and they really don't take a lot of alternates unfortunately, but they DO. I don't remember how many alternates they took 2016, but I think it was more than I originally thought so maybe 10ish? Let me know if you have any questions about the program. I'll try my best to answer them.
  5. I'm in my last semesters for BSN and just recently got placed in the adult cath lab for capstone. I'm the only one in my cohort of 90 to be in the cath lab, and historically there's only been a few so there's not a lot of people to talk to. Anyone out here has/had the cath lab as a capstone? I was wondering what the nursing STUDENT experience was like.
  6. Just got an email and call from Stephanie. She just told me there's a spot in the ED for me! Alternates keep your hopes up!
  7. Alternate as well. Good luck to everyone :>
  8. Also from Cali, still waiting ever so patiently lol
  9. So jealous of those who got a response. I'm dying to know about my status omg.
  10. Wow I just found this thread. I submitted last day Jan 15 and got an email 3 hours ago asking for transcripts and placement too! This is exciting.
  11. There's also edX! I've taken some courses from Harvard and MIT and they're hard but really fun.
  12. Thank you for all the responses and input. It really helps :] There is definitely a price range difference (EMT: 1,500-2,600, CNA: 900-1,200). If my clinicals can prepare me for CNA certification, then I can save about 1,000.
  13. First post in the forums here :> Little background: Just finished my first year of nursing at University of San Francisco. I will be starting clinical next semester. It's summer and I want to be productive so I was considering CNA and EMT programs. I'm wondering for CNA, is an accredited program required? Would it be possible to go through the clinical from school and get certified or must it be specifically a CNA training program? I'm reading a lot of things left and right and totally getting confused. If clinicals can prepare me for training and I don't have to specifically take a CNA program, I could potentially save a lot of money. Reading this thread: https://allnurses.com/cna-ma-nursing/how-become-cna-451773.html Skimmed some threads and it seems like being a CNA proved to be a valuable experience to have. Would EMT training be beneficial for a nursing student? CNA or EMT? Thanks :>
