PICC nurses in the workplace
Sorry auto correct put in stashing, instead of dayshift. You don't have anyone on call? In order to overcome adversaries, the problem has to be known. I do appreciate the feedback, it will help us to better serve you. Thank you.

Respiratory Therapists Inserting PICC Lines
I have found in the hospital setting that NURSING specialties are being combined. From a business practice, you get more bang for the buck. From a nurses standpoint, the facility is expecting you to exhibit the best practice in dual fields. That is why I work as an independent contractor. I like the idea of a PICC team availability 24/7. It's best for the patients. No delay in treatment. I have found RT extremely competent. After all, it comes down to taking care of the patient.

You aren't able to put a request or question for them, even though they are stashing?

Working for vascular access?
I am in total agreement. I love my job. I work for several hospitals as an independent contractor now. It is highly specialized and comes with certain challenges. I worked the hospital setting in heme-onc and the ed as well as on the team. I like being a supplement to an existing team (weekends and holidays), and also THE team for smaller hospitals. I find as I get older, I prefer to stay out of hospital politics. Being an independent contractor accomplishes this. Good luck.

"Per Diem"/"Ind Contract" on-call pay
I am an independent contractor, we are subject to hospital rules as well. That is part of your contract with the facility. I just finished a per diem gig. The information on taxes is correct. It's basically being paid an hourly rate with taxation taken care of, or being paid by the case and you are responsible for all taxation.

Does your facility utilize a PICC team? Do you find them helpful for your access needs? Are you able to utilize their resources/knowledge for any questions you or your patient may have?
