  1. Hi fellow Excelsior students, H60Medic (Jim) is from MS. I PM'd him two days ago to make sure he and his family were alright. I havent heard a word from him. I realize he may have been deployed to an area to assist with patient evacuation (he is also a paramedic/firefighter). Jim just graduated Excelsior College and passed the state boards a few weeks ago. He is also a fellow military veteran. He has been a great help to me in preparing for my CPNE. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Dear God, please let them be ok.
  2. Hi H60, I am proud of you....from a fellow military medic. I just have CPNE to do. I agree with you, Excelsior is not for everyone. I was in your situation, traditional nursing school was not an option for me either. However, with the training and knowledge I have from being a medic it was doable, hard work but doable. You are right about the discipline it takes to complete this program. I am a little concerned about when I go job hunting....there seems to be negativity about the way we do this nursing program. With that being said and the experience I have I am sure that will be a plus. Hey good luck on your NCLEX, my fellow veteran
  3. Hi thrashej, I attend al-anon weekly. Its the best thing I ever did. My group is great and very supportive. Get the books "Courage to Change" and "Hope for Today". Every day read the reading for that day. You will have a safe haven where you can discuss anything that is bothering you. Everyone in the group understands exactly what you are going through. There is nothing that you will say that someone else has not experienced. There is no judgement, no codemnation, no critisism. I am so glad I went back, even when I dont feel like going, I go and come home feeling better. I agree with the other posters, you have to shop around, you will find your "group". I also went in to counselling which helped alot. Hey T come back, we will welcome you with open arms :)
