  1. Unfortuntly Chase no longer provides student loans. Thanks for the advice thou:)
  2. Thanks for your advice, I have applied to financial aid through FAFSA, and received some aid but not enough to cover the cost. I am trying to avoid Sallie Mae because of the interest rate I was offered, and the fact that you can not consolidate and do not accept loan forgiveness programs.
  3. Now I am having second thoughts after reading this forum. Should I really be going to this school? It just seems nuts not to go, I have been in school for yyyeaaarrss, with my goal to get into nursing school. I have applied over the years and havent gotten into a program. I feel like this is my time! I just cant justify throwing this opportunity away. I have shopped around and did my research and have applied to other nursing programs, and was only accepted into this program. I have a friend who just graduated and has had previous loans as well. I just feel like people have student loans, it is what it is? I dunno. I am so stressed about this whole thing.
  4. unfortunately most programs are that expensive here, unless you go through a diploma nursing program
  5. Yes we both agree a lower interest rate is a no brainer. Lets hope I get approved through a credit union.
  6. the amount is for the first year. I agree it is insane to borrow at an 11% interest rate and i wont be doing that. My husband is okay with the loans he was well aware that i have loans from previous schooling and he has been through each step in this process with me, so finances are not an issue with us, what has me at a stand still is getting a loan on my own with my credit. Unfortunately, I dont have have a choice to wait another year, most programs that are less expensive are diploma programs and are usually wait list. I wouldnt be able to start the program for another 2 years. and then have to continue my education because no one is hiring someone with a diploma.
  7. I was not approved with Wells Fargo but I was approved with Sallie Mae with an insanely high interest rate. So now I am in search for another bank that will give me a private loan but I am worried about my credit score being affected with every application I submit.
  8. Blossom I am gong to call a few banks today and ask what the interest rate will be. I am completely freaking out about getting a loan in enough time. Grandpaj, most of my loans from previous schooling are from AES but I received them through FAFSA. I went onto their website and I couldnt find where I could apply for a private loan. I always thought AES was directly given to you through the federal loans.
  9. Thank You Blossom7! I will look up discover as well. I am thinking of applying to a credit union and citizen bank Does anyone know if having many loan inquires affect my credit score. I am reading that if I apply for multiple loans within a 2 week period it will not affect it. Does anyone know if this true? I can find a direct answer anywhere.
  10. are there any other questions that I should ask my financial aid counselor regarding more aid? if all else fails i might have accept Sallie mae and I really really dont want to do that.
  11. Hey Bronze. I googled whether or not shopping around for a lower interest rate will affect my credit score and I read that it wont if you go it in within 45-day time frame. Are you saying being a co-signer will not affect his score? He is worried because his name is on everything( the mortgage, my car, home equity loan, credit cards ect.) and has excellent excellent credit score( almost the highest possible credit score you can have) so he just doesn't want to jeopardize that ( which i completely understand, one of us has to have good credit) I will go to my schools financial aid this week and see if there is anything they can help me. Thanks
  12. Silver, i received federal direct unsubsidized student loan, is a stafford loan different? I will contact my financial aid now and ask how to get a stafford loan. I have received stafford loans before in the past and were usually received it with my financial aid package through FAFSA. With my husbands incomes I think we made to much money for me to receive anymore federal loans, plus I have many student loans from previous schooling.
  13. I have a major issue. I applied for Finacial aid and only received 9,500 and recieved 9,500 in scholarships from the school, but I need 12,960 dollars to cover the cost of tuition. I applied for sallie mae and got approved without a co signer but with a very very high interest rate,(almost 13%) I most likely will not accept the loan. I applied for a loan at wells fargo and needed a co signer, my husband reluctantly co signed BUT I now need I need a joint co signer, which I do not have. I start school in Aug and I am freaking out about not being able to pay for the rest of the tuition. Does anybody know how many times you can apply for a loan without affecting your credit score. My husband will not be co signing for anymore of the loans because he is afraid it will effect his score. Also, does anybody know where you can get a loan other then sallie mae without a co-signer? Thank you in advance!! :)
  14. I am having the same issue. I applied for sallie mae and got approved without a co signer but with a very very high interest rate, i most likely will not accept the loan. I appled for wells fargo and needed a co signer, my usband relucently co signed and now i need a joint co signer, which i do not have. I start school in Aug and I am kind of freaking out about not being able to pay for the rest of tuition. Does anybody know how many times you can apply for a loan without affecting your credit score. My husband will not be co signing for anymore of the loans because he is afraid it will effect his score. Also, does anybody know where you can get a loan other then sallie mae without a co-signer?
  15. I was accepted into Nursing school and start in Aug. I work part-time get paid an hourly rate plus commission based on sales. I am really nervous about not being able to work like I am now while in nursing school. I am hoping that my job will let me work from home so I can work more often and not travel back and forth( which takes 45 mins there and 30 mins back and the shifts are only 3-4 hours long. So I will be wasting alot of time driving back and forth. I am nervous about what my job situation will be and am thinking of taking extra money out for living expenses. My husband is the bread winner but we need my income to help with bills. With federal loans and scholarships I will be receiving 9,500 a year but I need 16,000 more per a year to cover the rest of the cost of tuition. Should I take out more incase I have issues with my job and income?
