Hospital vs. Clinic
As a nurse you never stop learning. You will pick up new skills & experience different things wherever you work. Don't let this deter you. I left the hospital after 11 years due to severe burnout & took a clinic job. I am slowly feeling like a human being again. It's nice to have weekends off & go to parties, etc & not have to check your schedule & see if you're working that day. The quality of life is better.

Anchor & Maxim agencies
I had an interview with Anchor yesterday for a prn position & wanted to get everyone's opinion. I do not have any experience with home health agencies. I looked up a review on glassdoor & found they are rated 2.5 stars with 1 bad review for this location in Indiana. I was informed they take medically complex cases that no other agency will take. This sounds like it might not be so good. I have an interview with Maxim on Monday. on glassdoor they have a 2.8 star rating. Thanks in advance for your help

Is this normal?
Wow. I'm speechless. I've started sending out more resumes as this job is only 2 days a week & I need to work more than that. I thought this job would be a wonderful opportunity to learn something new & it has turned into a nightmare. I'm trying to figure out how to tell them I'm less than pleased with this situation. I did not think I had to ask during the interview if I would be oriented or not.

Is this normal?
Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if this was typical with clinic jobs or not. I know in the hospital you get 6 weeks orientation if you are experienced. I've had time to reflect on this & will stop being so hard on myself.

Is this normal?
I just started a new clinic job after 11 years in the hospital & I'm flying by the seat of my pants. My computer orientation was over the phone from a nurse at the second clinic where the physician works at. When the last nurse left she divided up her duties among the staff so when I started I was verbally instructed what to do but the staff isn't able to answer any in depth questions that I have or orient me. If I have a question I have to email or call the nurse at the other office on what to do. I work 2 days a week & this is my 3rd day at the clinic. I was instructed by a lab rep on how to do urine drug screens & I did not fill out all the info. on the lab requestions like I was supposed & to & I got reamed for it. Is it normal not to have orientation time in a clinic?

Career Suicide??
Working in a hospital isn't all its cracked up to be anymore. High stress with little in return. I've worked for 11 years in the hospital and I'm looking to escape to a different nursing setting.

Home Health Interview. Your opinions please.
I have 11 years of med/surg experience. With all of the changes going on in the hospitals these days & burnout I am finally ready to do something different. I finally landed an interview with a home health agency for part time work. There are no benefits for working under 30 hours/week & they stated since they are non profit they could not come close to matching my current wage (I currently make 32.00/hour). The most they could pay me would be around 25.00/hour. A co-worker told me usually home health nurses make more than hospital nurses, now I'm not so sure. I was really interested in the job, but I'm not sure if they're trying to get me to work for a lower wage. I'm looking for some input from those who know the ropes! Thanks

What's considered "Job-Hopping" in nursing?
You sound like you work in management or administration.
