I just agreed to co-chair a new committe our unit started - Recruitment and Retention. I'm looking for ideas for our committee to use. What does your hospital/unit do to promote retention and improve overall nursing morale? We have 6 new graduates starting and we want to keep them around. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

You may want to try Egelston Children's it is part of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. They rarely post positions through HR, but if you call the unit directly and ask for the Staff 4 nurse of the week, they can tell you what positions are available. They are always looking for new nurses with experience. When I left a year ago, we had a MASS exidus and they were even hiring travelers which they had never done before. Good Luck!
