  1. My background is in NICU and OBGYN. I'm thinking about moving into case management. I would love to know where to start, too. I have applied for several hospital positions, but they seem to want experience in CM only. Are there any other companies I could look at to do this kind of work?
  2. Thanks to everyone who responded. I got a great job today in a local NICU!
  3. Wow, reading this thread really brought back memories for me. It also reminded me how much I loved working NICU. The first time I had to touch a tiny one on a vent, I thought he would melt. I thought I was the only one who had those nightmares about forgetting to feed one of the babies the whole shift, etc. It makes me feel a lot better to know other people have them too!
  4. Hey, I am re-entering nursing after 18 months out. I had been doing prn in a great hospital NICU near me, but I really want to go back into it full-time. I would like to really improve my clinical skills, become more experienced, and feel more competent with level III than I am. I would love to hear about anyone's NICU experiences at other hospitals here in GA., especially around Atlanta. I am looking for the best place to commit to and be able to grow as a NICU RN. Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the info. I really need to look more at commuting north of Atlanta. There seems to be so many more big facilities on that side of town. I have applied to Henry for several of their positions weeks ago but they haven't contacted me. I spoke to the recruiter and she said that she had forwarded it to the dept. and if they were interested they would contact me for an interview. Are hospitals now looking for BSN? My ADN has never been a problem before when looking for a job, but I wonder if things have changed in the past year around here.
  6. Hi, I am reentering nursing after 18 months off. I've primarily worked in NICU and OBGYN. I'd love to work in NICU again, but haven't found many open positions right now. I had a recruiter call me about working in a fertility clinic. It sounds fascinating, but I have never worked outside if the hospital setting before. I told him I was very interested, but haven't heard back from him. Is anyone here in this field? Does anyone know of clinics around Atlanta (I live 20 minutes south in Henry county) that might be hiring? I am willing to drive uo to an hour each way. I have an interview in Macon for a FT NICU next week, but it will be a 7p-7a position, and I am wondering if I shouldn't be looking for something new to do.
  7. Hey, I graduated from Gordon in 1995. Aced the NCLEX...it was easy compared to a lot of the exams I took there. It was a great deal financially, too. My sister went to Kennesaw State and is still paying off student loans.
  8. Hey, I am in Locust Grove. I graduated from Gordon with my ADN in 1995.
  9. hey, i have over seven years experience in both level ii and iii nicu and newborn nursery, but i am having the hardest time finding a job right now . i had to leave my last per diem job in dec., so i've been out of it 5 months. i've gotten a lot of agency calls, but permanent positions seem scarce. it seems impossible to get my calls returned from nurse managers or recruiters. i had a great interview (at least i thought so...) a month ago at a local hospital, but it took 3 weeks of leaving messages for the recruiter and nurse manager before they let me know they had given the position to "someone internal" ?! it seems like the hospitals around here have little need of rns for their nicus. are nicu positions slim pickings right now, or is it just me? i have never had trouble finding a job before this, and i have been a rn since 1995. i had just had a really good evaluation before i left my last job, and i have never been fired from any job. if anyone knows of a regular part-time/per diem near the atlanta area, preferably day, evenings, or 7a-7p, please let me know. i hate feeling so rejected :angryfire , but nicu has been my #1 love since i was in college. i just can't see myself working in a different unit. thanks!
