VCU DNAP 2020 Applicants
Are you currently living in Virginia or coming from out of state? The reason I ask is because if you close to one of the four campuses and have support there, I would apply to the campus near you. If you’re coming from out of state, I would apply to the main Richmond campus. The Alexandria, Abington, and Roanoke campuses are satellite campuses. Everyone in all of the campuses has class together via high tech video conferencing. A few times each year, we all go to the Richmond campus.

Those of you who missed a call. Do they leave a message? I’m traveling to Morocco and my phone won’t work all week. I’m terrified that if I get a call, I won’t be able to respond for a week

In case anyone needs a laugh, I have come up with some theories as to why we have not heard back yet: - Amanda had her baby at work and it was such a joyous occasion that they are still celebrating - We impressed them so much during the interviews that they are trying to figure out how to let all of us get in - Everyone got abducted by aliens (unlikely, put can't rule it out) Anyone else have any theories? lol

VCU DNAP 2020 Applicants
I heard from a coworker of mine that her friend was interviewing this week. I didn’t get a chance to ask any details but that may be the holdup. Not sure if she meant for a different program or a different school altogether.

VCU DNAP 2020 Applicants
Based on the info session prior to the interviews, vcu looks for candidates who would be exceptional leaders in the field. They do a lot of partnerships with lots of hospitals/organizations. Everyone I interviewed with had that extra something that made them stand out. I personally had lots of volunteer experience and have been on surgical mission trips. I also had 5 years of research experience prior to getting into nursing. Best advice I can give is to show them how you’re special. It sounds like you’re super driven, best of luck to you

Does it make a difference where/how prerequisites are completed for crna schoo, admission
Hello everyone. I'm in the process of completing my prerequisites for crna school and have a bit of a conundrum. A bit of background: current MSICU RN at a level I trauma center. Graduated BSN with honors. This is my second career second degree so it has been more than 10 years since I've taken most of the prereqs for crna school thus have to retake them before I apply. I am currently finishing gen chem 2 at a local community college as an in person course. I still need to retake organic chem, biochem, physics and stats. question: would it matter where I take these classes? Would a community college suffice or should I take them at a university? If a university if preferable, can I take them online through New England University? any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

Drug seekers
Do you have a psych consult available at your hospital? If not, maybe a social worker would be a great resource to use to refer this pt to a substance abuse center upon discharge. Unfortunately drug seekers have learned how to abuse the system to get what they want, even if it's just for a brief period. The other thing that might be helpful is to see if there is a written protocol in your hospital about how quickly (or slowly I should say) narcotic pain killers can be administered via IV push. If you can find the documentation about that, you can always just say that it is simply against policy. Also, reassuring the pt that you are really there to help them may aid in reducing the belligerent behavior. Hope this helps!

ASU : Concerns about certified background check
Sorry for the late response. As you can probably tell by the fact that I was so very late in my update that I have been a busy nursing student bee. Yay!!!! I really appreciate your support during this whole process.

Arizona State University - Summer/Fall 2014
Thank you so much for the very thorough response and all of you advice!! If you don't mind, I do have one kind of silly follow up question… what do you wear to class? Do we start out in scrubs or just in our normal clothes? thanks again!
