A Fellow Nurse Called Her Patient an A......
Yes it does Actually the name came about one day when watching the movie Jazz on a Summers Day with my son. When Thelonious Monk was on in the movie my son pronounced his name Theloneliest Monk, so thats where the name came from. Sorry for going off topic

A Fellow Nurse Called Her Patient an A......
You absolutely did do the right thing IMHO. No patient needs to be talked to that way.

Patients whose gf/bf sleep with them in the hospital bed

Finally I'am in
Congratulations I just recently finished up my pre reqs also, but im going to OTA school starting May 1st. I think to make it through nursing school you got to work hard and study hard. I have a few friends in nursing school and I know they are busting their butts with studying to get through it and it's working. Be dedicated to it and work hard and im sure you will be fine.

Near miss, should I be blamed?
WOW! Things like this is why I am in school for OT instead of nursing. God bless all you nurses, because honestly I dont know how you do it. I would never be able to deal with things like this.

Florida Roll Call ......
Hi everyone I live in Miramar Florida and I am a mental health tech at Memorial Regional Hospital on the children and adolescent psych unit. I been working there since 1999. I am now going to school to get my associates degree to become an occupational therapy assistant.

keiser college
I attend Keiser Fort Laderdale campus although not for nursing, but occupational therapy assistant. Our schools news letter that came out this month had something in it about a 4th semester nursing student that scored on some nationwide nursing exam called the critical care cap exam, anyways she scored 4th in the state of Florida and 14th at the national level. I dont know if that helps you about the quality of education in the nursing program at Keiser. As far as Price Keiser is very expensive, but I love the school and the education I am getting.

A patient pulled a knife on me today.
Glad to hear that you are alright after that. I work as a mental health tech on a child and adolescent unit and about 5 years ago, the day shift had a birthday cake for one of the staff and they left a knife to cut the cake in the nursing station. That evening a kid went into the nursing station and grabbed the knife and came at me with it. Luckily I was able to grab his arm and get the knife away from him.

OTs versus RNs
I am in school now working on getting my associates degree in occupational therapy, so I can become a COTA. After that I may go on to get my masters in occupational therapy, but right now I am undecided about that. Good luck with whatever you decide

Was I justified in writing up Nursing Assistant?
Im not a nurse, but i think I would of wrote him up too. He should of asked you if you wanted him to call someone for help, instead of taking it upon his self and lying to the other person saying you told him to do it. That would piss me off.
