75 Questions ... Mostly health prom and mgt... good or bad?
Thanks so much.... how exactly do I do the trick??

75 Questions ... Mostly health prom and mgt... good or bad?
So I literally just took the NCLEX and it really felt like I "couldn't get out of" health promotion and management.. On my exam I received no questions on: lab values, blood product questions, hemodynamics, patho, delegation, potential for complications ... I mean ... I'm kind of freaking out ... I got a lot of pharm, teaching, proper documentation, pt safety... It seemed like that was about all ... unless I am in a daze... is the fact that I got no questions outside of health promotion and management mean I was never able to make it above the passing line in 75 questions??

Is the color of my stethoscope obnoxious?
So I have worked in the ED as a Patient Care Technician and I have seen how quickly stethoscopes can walk and how many are so indistinguishable from one another ... so I made the decision to purchase a Littmann Cardiology III with lemon-lime tubing and a smoke bell to thwart any potential elopement ... I am pursuing a career in Trauma and Critical Care.... So I guess I have two questions for you guys ... 1) Is my stethoscopes' color obnoxious? ... I know it sounds ridiculous but I feel like being a new nurse puts a "target" on ones back already... Will I be dubbed "that new nurse with that obnoxiously bright stethoscope" ? ..... 2) (Also sounds a little ridiculous as I typed it...maybe just post graduation/first real nursing job anxiety) Will the color of my stethoscope be detrimental to my patients? Again I am pursuing a career in Trauma/Critical Care ... In school we're constantly taught to decrease stimuli!!! Will the bright color of my stethoscope be increasing their stimuli?? I'm just imagining doing an assessment on a patient with an altered level of consciousness and all of a sudden there's this bright yellow snake making a go at his chest ..... I know these questions are silly... so maybe they will put a smile on your face... But as experienced nurses would you think negatively of a new grad walking into a Critical Care setting with a flashy/bordering on obnoxious stethoscope....

Nursing School withholding grades from NYS?
Hello all ... I need some advice regarding my upcoming graduation and subsequent NCLEX ... I am currently in my last semester and I am due to graduate mid December... my school has us enrolled in a NCLEX review at the end of January ... They are telling us that they are not going to release our information to New York State until after we complete this NCLEX review ... If we have all our final grades in by mid December can the school not send our information to NYS until they decide "we are ready" to take the NCLEX? Thanks for any information!

Hey guys.. I went to WVU a few years ago and always saw the vast amounts of helicopters landing on the roof of Ruby ... I was wondering how the ER was set up down there... looking to come back once I'm done with school up here... How busy are they? Do the nurses take care of both trauma patients and the chest pains and abd pains? Sports Nursing: MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA
Do any of the professional sports organizations hire nurses to be part of their medical staff? I know most professional sports teams have a comprehensive medical staff including doctors and trainers. Do any of the organizations employ nurses on their medical staff? If so, what is the capacity of the nurse? And how does one go about getting such job?

Bellevue Emergency ICU/Trauma Resuscitation Unit
Hello AN community.... I was just wondering if any nurses have first hand experiences in Bellevue Hospital's Emergency ICU/Trauma Resuscitation Unit... I am a lifelong New York'r and it has been a dream of mine to work for HHC (Bellevue, Lincoln, Harlem ED's are my top choices for I love trauma).... Being a Bellevue nurse would be a dream come true.. I have seen some posts regarding Bellevue but I was wondering if anyone currently (or formerly) had some incite on how the Emergency ICU is run. I am currently a 3rd semester student in an ASN program (graduate December 2015) and am looking for info on this amazing institution.... some questions I have are... 1) Is Bellevue hiring new grad Associate Degree Nurses? 2) How many nurses are staffed.. in general... in the EICU? 3) What is the typical nursing assignment for the EICU? 4) How long is the typical stay of an EICU patient? 5) What type of pt comes through the Trauma Resuscitation Unit (trauma's, strokes, STEMI's, critical medical patients, Neuro cases)? 6) Who decides who takes incoming critical patients? 7) In a 12 hour shift or week long time period how many patients come through the TRU? 8) What happens if there are no beds in the EICU and a Level 1 trauma comes in? Sorry for the length of the post but I would love to know everything about Bellevue...It is truly my dream to be a nurse at Bellevue... especially treating all the critical patients... Thanks so much in advance.

Is it ever too early for NCLEX prep
Hello all... I am currently in my third semester of an ADN program... I will have free time on my hands this summer and was wondering if it was a good idea to spend money on NCLEX review classes... I will be graduating in December 2015...is it a good idea to attend a review class or two while I have time... Or will I be overwhelmed... Also can anyone suggest reading material or any tips on choosing the best "In Class" reviews ... Thanks so much in advance
