I think you should consult with CNA rep and ask for their assistance. The union should be able to protect you from this. So, bring a CNA rep with you when you talk to your employer. Goodluck!

Thank you for your replies. It's reassuring to feel that you have been on the boat (or is currently in the same place) that I will soon be on and that you do not have or did not have any regrets. It makes me refocus and remember why I am pursuing this, reflect on the efforts and the sacrifices I have already made in order for me to get accepted into the program I've been dreaming of getting into, and to concentrate on my end goal. I know it will be worth it in the end. :-)

Lucky you that is all you have to make...there is no doubt that I've been wanting to pursue this path all the years I've been a nurse...now that I have a family, I just find it a little bit more challenging- the notion of being not so close to them just gives me the chill... I guess I just wanted to find out the % of nurses who are, like me, have kids and were able to finish their journey to Graduate Degree and how they felt about getting to the finish line. :-)

Hi. I recently got accepted into MSN-APN Program and I am very much ready to take on this opportunity. However, I would be making the sacrifice of being away from my family for the entire program with the plan on seeing them every couple of weeks. I was wondering how much sacrifices have you done before you were able to achieve your degrees? And looking back, do you have any regrets in doing so, or was it all worth it?

Does anyone know when the exams for the summer quarter classes are? I am planning ahead of time as to when to fly back home and would like to have an idea as to when and how often the exams would be. Would appreciate any feedback on this. :-)

Hi. I found out that our schedule for the Fall would be Tues and Wed. Do u guys happen to know if our curriculum would be the same for everyone on the first quarter? It seems like we will have clinicals the first quarter, is that true for everyone?

@haiyen: on the UCLA website, you can click the link that says community housing and it should allow you to browse for rooms/ roommates.

Who else among us are not from the LA area? Have you guys thought about your housing options? Does anyone of you also have a family? How are you guys planning to do this?

To those who are planning to take research course in the summer, in order to receive financial aid, one must at least take a total of 12 units in a quarter. Thus, if you are receiving financial aid, taking it in the summer would only give you an option to take a different course/elective class during the Fall quarter, and not really lighten up your load. I didn't know this so I am just sharing this info w everyone.

Thanks for the info. Have not decided yet what to do. That's a good point though, if tuition is getting subsidized by UC, it makes sense to take it in the Fall.

Is there anyone of you planning on taking Research course during the summer? I was thinking of signing up to lighten up my load during the Fall. Is it helpful to have a recent statistics course for this course, bc I have taken mine 15 years ago, thus needed some polishing. :-)

Yep... 5 and 1. That is why it is a big move- have to find schools etc. I've looked into the housing options at the website, but my dilemma is that the process of moving might be too much in the beginning of the quarter... any thoughts on this?

Just trying to figure out how I would actually do it myself, bc I have kids and debating on whether I should bring them all w me or have them stay where we are at w husband other fam members supportive of us- and hopefully get them once everything settles down...

@ Jess: I applied for the OEH program but got into adult Geri Primary Care NP

Last Tuesday, I got a call from one of the faculties asking me which program I'm more interested to, since I have applied for the AGNP-OEH, but my stmt of purpose she said seems to be more appropriate for the AGNP-Primary Track. Thus, I would assume that they were still reviewing our files at that time. So, maybe, give them until early next week to post their decisions.
