Electronic cigarettes (E-cigs)
Take a look at this article about a study in JAMA http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/national_world/2014/03/07/e-cigarettes-lead-young-folks-to-the-real-thing.html . Although there may be a problem with the initial cohort of the study in relation to conclusions reached it still warrants for further stronger reasearch on e cigs and smoking cessation.

How important is statistics in nursing and nursing school?
Understanding elementary statistics is essential to any healthcare professional. It is imperative that we all understand what statically significant results mean and have a notion of how these results are derived. Health care improvements need to rely on evidence based research rather than speculation and day to day observations. We can learn so much about our patient populations and the best course of treatment using statistical methods. I understand that stats is not easy nor everyone's favorite subject. If you care about understanding new research that will only improve the field of nursing and possibly your future unit, hospital, and patients well-being then apply yourself in your statistics courses and soak up everything you can learn.

What was your favorite topic to study in A&P?
Im with the majority, I love the heart and how it functions. Understanding that damage to certain areas of the heart results in specific heart problems is so fascinating. Its so interesting that we have so many diagnostic tools such the ECG, electrocardiograms, etc that help us to identify these heart problems in patients and direct us to the proper course of treatment.

GRU CNL 2014 entering class
NesaB, I was a regular entry applicant for Fall 14. It took about 2 weeks from the time I submitted my application until I received word that I got an interview. The interview was laid back although questions were asked that assessed leadership, integrity, and time management skills. It would be in your best interest to understand what a CNL does and hammer down why you will make an exceptional nurse (CNL). There will be time to ask questions at the end of the interview so let them know you are interested! During my interview the interviewer said it would take anywhere from 6-8 weeks to hear about my acceptance. Within 3 weeks I received a phone call notifying me of my acceptance. Not sure what my GPA is maybe something like 3.6-3.8 and my GRE score was a bit above average. I was in a fraternity during my undergraduate studies that required 25hrs of community service per semester. Hope this info helps. Best wishes, Thomas Skinner
