GPC Spring 2016 Graduates
I just e-mailed to find out more info on the schedule for the fall, and this is the response I received. I wish it was more helpful. "I believe it will be given at boot camp. Expect to be here between 8 – 5 everyday Monday thru Friday. Your clinical will start six weeks into the semester and you will start around 6:30 and will go until 4 or 5."

I am so glad the boot camp is after our vacation! Anyone have an idea when we'll get more info on our schedule for the first semester?

I am ready for the e-mail as well. I really want to start working out logistics for childcare, but I don't want to start until we get confirmed info from the school. I am also praying that our "boot camp" doesn't conflict with our beach vacation.

GPC Spring 2016 Graduates
I just received this e-mail from my professor. I hope it helps those of you that are taking his class at Dunwoody. ]There is a homework assignment for Micro lecture. Students have a choice between: ] ]photocopying and answering the multiple choice questions at the end of select chapters in the 11th edition of Tortora (about 30 pages worth) ] ] or ] ]purchasing MasteringMicrobiology with the textbook. If you choose to do the MasteringMicrobiology quizzes and you want to purchase the 11th edition, then a bundle would be a good idea. If students are doing MasteringMicrobiology, I allow them to use previous edition texts of Tortora that are much cheaper. If you choose to do that, then you can purchase the MasteringMicrobiology code by itself (not bundled).

Have any of you taken microbiology at the Dunwoody Campus? I am trying to find out if any outside of the textbook is required for the class, but the professor is not returning e-mail until the day classes start back up. I'd hate to buy the whole package the school is selling, if I only need the book.

I took my CNA course at Giving Care Education Center in Woodstock. It was a great experience. It took about 5 weeks, since I took the night class. The day class only takes about 3 weeks. The certification test is usually about a month after the course ends. PM me if you are considering enrolling there, so you can tell them I sent you their way.

Thanks! I have a couple more questions regarding clincals. Do you get to choice the days your clinical days or are they assigned? Also, are they different options for locations, and if so do you get to choice your own site? Once you move to the second semester are clinicals held weekly?

FurtureGaRN15 thanks for chiming in! What are the schedules like for clinicals in the 1st and 2nd semester?

GPC Spring 2016 Graduates
I don't know if any of you are considering taking LINK for Nursing over the summer. I was, but I just heard back from Ms. Creel. She suggested that I only take micro and dosage calculations. I don't know if her recommendation will change if you have different courses that you are taking this summer, but I wanted to put this out there in case it helps any of you.

I haven't had a chance to get my passport picture taken. It will probably be a couple weeks before I send in all my paperwork.

I recently applied for a PRN CNA position at CHOA. If I am hired, I am hoping I will be able to work about 1 shift/week. I know GPC recommends that you don't work more than 16 hours while in the program.

Thanks Stephanie! That definitely helps give a good picture. I wonder how often we will do clinicals in the first semester.

I am an over planner, so I am really anxious about not knowing our schedule. It is nice to have a general idea though. I wonder if we will get that information in May. I know the acceptance letter said we would receive more information at that point.

GPC Fall 2014 hopefuls
I have a 3 year old as well. Luckily, my husband is a lot of help. He's a firefighter and works 24/off 48, so he's generally home quite a bit. My son goes to a local Montessori school, but we are still going to have to hire some extra help. I live in Cumming, so I will have to leave really early to get to school without getting stuck in traffic, and my hubby is gone most mornings. So, we will have to get someone to come in most mornings and occasional afternoons. I think it will be manageable during the school year. I actually feel more guilty about this summer, since he will be home all day. I also just applied for a PRN position at CHOA. I am hoping to work 1 shift/week. We need to bring in a little extra money to cover the childcare costs from being in the program. It's so nice to know that there are so many of us in the same situation. Does anyone else live in North Ga?

Has anyone taken the Nurse Link class at GPC? I am trying to decide if it would be helpful to take it over the summer. I am already planning to take microbiology and Nursing Dosage calculations. I don't want to add another summer course to my plate if it won't be beneficial.

GPC Fall 2014 hopefuls
I am 30 years old, and I have a three year old son. I had a terrible start with college, so I returned to school last year with a pretty low GPA. I have made a 4.0 since returning. My program GPA is a 3.07 and my science GPA is a 4.0. I made a 90 on the TEAS overall, 93 on the reading, and 100 on the math. I only applied to GPC this year, since I am still finishing up my sciences. If I don't get accepted, I will apply to more schools for 2015.

GPC Fall 2014 hopefuls
Hi! I have been watching this thread for a little while, but this is my first time posting. GPC is the only school I have applied to this year. The wait is killing me too! I really hope to get accepted, but at this point just knowing whether or not would take away a lot of stress. I didn't see an e-mail that someone would be traveling.
