  1. Ned RN, What is your background? You seem to know a lot about traveling.
  2. I agree with emb92250...it can be very stressful when you first start looking for your first travel assignment. Honestly though, you will always have some nervousness when looking for your next assignment. That never fully goes away. I went from Florida to Orange County CA for my first assignment. It was a great first assignment. The staff was welcoming and the management was wonderful. Just take the leap. Find a recruiter you click with and trust. Be flexible with where you are willing to go. There are a lot of places that won't accept first time travelers, so keep an open mind. Get you licenses in order. Have a plan A, plan B and plan C. Work towards those licenses starting now. If you don't have license in hand that can cost you a job.
  3. There are a lot of variables when considering travel. In my opinion...no the money isn't that great. It's not bad, just not great. If I were in it for the money...probably wouldn't be doing it. I am usually forced to take the provided housing since I travel with my family. It's just easier for us. It seems to me a lot of nurses make the extra money by finding their own housing or staying with family to be able to bank stipend money. I bring home roughly about $400 more a month extra with provided housing which includes utilities. You said you are currently working peds. I believe this is an excellent specialty to be in. There seems to be quite a need out there for peds. If you find a company/recruiter that you like, have them give you some figures to go over. Aside from the money, the experience is amazing. You can learn so much. Meet new people. See the country! That's what I'm all about. Best of luck
  4. I have worked at Sutter Auburn Faith in Auburn CA as a traveler. This is a small hospital in Northern CA. The pay was decent, but nothing to write home about. They are very poorly managed. Nothing else significant stands out to me. If I needed a job, I would probably go back. I don't know if that helps, but that's my 2 cents.
