  1. Hello All. Congratulations to those who got in. I too applied for Fall2014- back in October - and it's been so long I almost forgot about it so it was a bit of a surprise to get the letter today. I did get in, but I will decline my seat because I already have been accepted at the USF... So, for those who are on the wait-list - do not give up hope- after the deadline there will be a few seats that open again. Good luck in the program!
  2. Congratulations to all of you who got accepted and good luck in the program. I was accepted also but just sent an email to decline because I've been accepted at the USF. So, for those on the wait-list - one spot just opened up -keep your hopes up!
  3. Does anyone know what the nursing orientation will be like? Do we need to bring anything (id's, cash, lunch) etc? Also has anybody completed the HIPPA training yet? if so how long does it take? Also they're asking for "professional attire", so does it mean no denim? I just realized it's only a couple of days away...
  4. My understanding is that the surcharge does apply to the second degree students, but only if(1) you began your FIRST degree in 2009 (or later), (2) already have 144 credits or more and (3) completed your first degree in Florida state institution. Also you can check your status on oasis - it will show whether it applies to you. And it does not surprise me that you're getting conflicting info from USF staff- some of them just tell you what they think is the best answer - just like with orientation. Anyway, since you mentioned that you began your first degree in 2008 i think the surcharge should not apply to you.
  5. Hey; that's wonderful! Congratulations! i'm sure it's a great relief... See you next Friday!
  6. Well, good luck with your application for fall, but i wouldn't quite yet give up hope for summer - spaces may open after 28th. As for the essay, I'm pretty sure it should be single-spaced... at least mine was. In fact I squeezed as much as i could on it and converted it to PDF before submitting to make sure that formatting is retained.
  7. Congratulations! I had the same reaction when I got acceptance email to USF.... it's a great feeling :) Good luck in the program!
  8. For those who have been accepted by UCF but decided to go elsewhere, did you reply to the email to let them know? I don't want keep the spot knowing that there may be people who have been waitlisted.
  9. Classes begin on Monday, May 12th. UCF have already posted class schedule so you can look up your first semester classes (from curriculum). When I checked there are two classes (lectures) scheduled for Mondays. The last day of classes is August 1st. Good luck in the program.
  10. I just got an email also. What a surprise! I too was accepted... but will give up my spot because I'll be going to USF accelerated program. Good luck everyone!
  11. Thank you for passing on the information.
  12. :) that's interesting, isn't it... sounds like yet another example of miscommunication between USF office of admissions and college of nursing. And someone evidently has no idea what the process is. I'm pretty sure that all new students (who have just been admitted to USF) have to attend general university orientation. My understanding is that only those who have been admitted and attended orientation in the past don't have to do it now.
  13. Yes, UCF is terribly slow this year. USF have released their results 10 days after the application deadline... and they have hundreds of essays to read. I wonder what's the hold-up with UCF.
  14. SILVACH24 I completed all my prerequisites at HCC - last fall i took Dep, HUN, CHM and Statistics - all online except CHM. Dep and HUN are definitely a good opportunity to raise your GPA (i can recommend good professors if you'd like). CHM and STAT require a bit more work but are totally do-able. I'm sure you can get all A's with a bit of work.
  15. @missind I got accepted so don't need a back-up plan or calling to find out why i was rejected. Thanks for your advice though.
