  1. four semesters with summers off. The TIME thing is also something to consider.
  2. I already have a bachelor's degree as well and I'm considering the ADN program at ACC. I see more benefits than none going that route. 1. it's wayyy more affordable 2. you can work as an RN and do a BSN bridge program...that way you are making money and have the potential of having an employer pay for your schooling. Just a thought though! :)
  3. I don't think they will. :/ If you like ACC, how come you don't want to apply to their ADN program?
  4. I worked with a Professor from CU and she said it really does not matter where you go, as long as their program is accredited. DSN is vastly becoming one of the top schools here in Denver ranking next to Regis and UNC. I haven't heard very good things about CU's program due to their new infrastructure. So it's really up to you. If you have a good GPA, keep your options open and perhaps apply to all of them so you can decide which school best fits your need. i.e. flexibility, time, finances etc.
  5. Yeah, but if you want to be ahead of the game, I would take patho before starting! trust me! I work at UCH and my DSN friends recommend taking it before you get in. If you don't take it, you will have to take it and your first two quarters will be very difficult. It's up to you though.
  6. Klone, that is not necessarily true. I work at UCH and if you work there as a CNA or ACP, no matter what school you graduate from, they will most likely hire you. It's a matter of networking and getting to know the right people. UCH is also obligated to hire out of state new grads as well if they want to maintain their Magnet status. So implying that UCH considers UC Denver students as a priority over other schools is simply untrue. If anything, I've seen them hire more DSN new grads than any other new grads out there.
  7. what three pre-recs do you have left?
  8. I'm taking patho this summer and applying to Metro!
  9. one of my colleagues was a very seasoned nurse and did some travel nursing across the country for about a year. When she came back to CO, it was very difficult for her to find a job! Hence to say, she did say that Colorado LOVES new grads! So, don't feel discouraged. I know that Memorial Hospital is down in CO Springs and they've recently expanded, so you can look into it! Also, the new Children's Hospital is down there too...Don't fret. You will find something fitting for you!
  10. It depends on what you like to do Bne10 AND the bi-polar weather when you arrive!!
  11. Shel, I currently work as a CNA at UCH and since my department is not considered a "High Risk" department, a TB is not required annually...This really sucks!
  12. hey Shel, did you have to do a TB test? If so, where did you get that done at? I NEED to get this done before orientation next week!!!
  13. Jen, I'm going to school Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I don't know what group I'm in yet but it's a two hour block between 8am-5pm. Wednesday is from 730-1030 then 11-130 and 230-530. Thursday looks like it's from 3-5pm. ....hope this helps! :)
  14. Shel, I'll probably use the light rail even though DSN doesn't offer the student eco pass
  15. I was put on the alternate list too. Looks like I'm going to DSN.
  16. I was put on the alternate list what was your GPA? I think that was what did it for me
  17. I have no idea! doubt it! I called the admissions counselor to see when interview/acceptance letters will be sent out and she is out of this office this week!!! :/ so maybe next week, the 8 weeks mark, we will have a better idea
  18. Are you working at UCH in their Perinatal resesarch dept? I'm at CHCO doing research:)
  19. See, that is why you should NOT take my word for it! lol. GOOD LUCK with your job search! :)
  20. I'm from Denver, so I will be living in the DTC area with my brother and his wife. Are you moving to Denver for school? Also, are you relying on loans to get you through?
  21. DSN already accepted me and I'm supposed to start in April. Yay. BUT I want to go to Regis so I can still work and get BENEFITS! I hope we get in!
  22. STILL HAVENT HEARD ANYTHING! except I got an email confirming that they've received my financial aid...that doesn't mean anything though! ugh
  23. I'm sorry...Don't take my word for it too though. Do your own research and you may be surprised.
