frustrated with the job search
I think one of the most frustrating things about the job search and it not going well is that it's unexpected...I really did not think it was going to be such a challenge. Here a lot has to do with your last semester and how the practicum went. Mine went ok but it was not a floor I wanted to work on. Fellow students that have gotten jobs have either known someone or called their preceptor and they talked to the nurse manager for them, that has been the only way to get an interview for the hospitals in NE Ohio.

frustrated with the job search
I'm in the same boat, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong either. I haven't had any calls from hospitals at all, had a couple of interviews for part time jobs but haven't had any offers...getting very frustrated! Going to a LTC facility tomorrow that stated in the ad that they hire new grads, hope I have luck there!

Visiting the Units: Appropriate?
Around here, it maybe the only way to get in...No one that I know of has gotten an interview by applying online. The only way any of my classmates have gotten interviews was by knowing a nurse on the floor and talking to the nurse manager or talking to the nurse manager themselves. The nurse manager then goes to HR and pulls their application. I myself haven't gotten the nerve to introduce myself to a nurse manager but at some hospitals it's the only way to get an interview.

I must be doing it wrong- 7 months and counting
I'm in the same spot...Graduated in May, passed the NCLEX first time (Thank GOD!) and still no job! In my case it might have been partly my fault, I wanted a couple of months off, so when the one hospital that was hiring called one of our teachers I didn't tell her to give them my name because it was the last hospital I wanted to be at...but when I started looking, none of the hospitals here were hiring new grads. One of the hospitals went on strike and a bunch of experienced nurses quit and went to the other hospitals. I've had 3 interviews, thought they all went well but no call backs...have become very frustrated and depressed. Going to a LTC facility that announced that they hire new grads, hopefully I'll get an offer and be able to start working!
